3 Days Kibale Chimpanzee and Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari is a short Uganda safari that will take you to Kibale national park which is also known as the primate capital because it harbors over 13 primate species including chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey, black and white colobus monkeys among others. During your visit in Kibale national park, you will engage in chimpanzee trekking where you will have a face to face encounter with the chimpanzees in their natural environment. From the primate capital you will connect to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will have great wildlife views of animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, warthogs, buffaloes, topi, waterbucks, hippos, crocodiles, different bird species during the game drive and boat cruise on Kazinga channel.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1 of the 3 days Kibale chimpanzee and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari

Arrival and transfer to Kibale national park, upon arrival at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the 3 days Kibale chimpanzee and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari you will be welcomed by our representative who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale national park. The journey takes about 6 hours drive and on the way you will have a stopover at the Equator where you will take photos, buy craft items and then proceed with another stopover in Fort portal for late lunch. After lunch you will continue the journey with great views of tea plantations, crater lakes, Rwenzori mountain ranges, some primate species among others and upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days Kibale chimpanzee and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the  park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a habituated chimpanzee family to trek, a park guide who is will lead you during trekking and then start trekking in the jungle. Chimpanzee trekking takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours or even longer depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they are mobile and like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to spot other wildlife species such forest elephants, primates like l’hoest monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, different bird species, different plant species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to watch them jump up in tree branches, breastfeed, feed, hunt, fight, play, rest, learn about their habits, behaviors, take photos and record the breathtaking moments to show people back home. After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide and drive out of the park to Fort Portal town for lunch. After lunch you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the oldest and second largest national park in Uganda. 

Evening game drive, upon arrival in the park you will go for an evening game drive where you will have great views of animals like buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, predator like lions, leopards, view different bird species among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge, check-in for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Boat cruise and departure to Kampala

Boat cruise, after breakfast on the last day of the 3 days Kibale chimpanzee and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and drive to the landing site near the luxury Mweya safari lodge for an amazing boat cruise on Kazinga channel an water body that connects lake George and lake Edward. During the boat ride which starts at around 9:00am you will be able to view water animals like hippos, crocodiles, water birds such as cormorants, hornbills, kingfishers, fish eagles, view buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, warthogs among others along the water banks, view fishermen along the shores preparing their fishing gears for night fishing, take beautiful pictures among others. After the boat ride you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and thereafter check out and start the journey to Kampala passing through Mbarara, Masaka and Mpingi. Upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop you off at the hotel depending on your schedule.
