3 Days Lake Bunyonyi Tour
3 Days Lake Bunyonyi Tour : Lake Bunyonyi locally meaning “a place of many little birds” is a scenic crater lake surrounded by terraced hillsides located in the south western part of Uganda in Kabale neighboring Uganda and Rwanda borders. The lake is believed to be the deepest in Africa with varying depth between 44m and 900m deep, it is also a fresh lake that is free from Bilhazia supporting water activities like swimming and boat/canoe rides.
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Depending on your location in Kampala, you will depart for Kalabe district and connect to Lake Bunyonyi. En route at the Equator for a break, proceed to Mbarara for lunch and finally Lake Bunyonyi, this is a 7 hours drive. Arrive at the lodge late afternoon. Check-in your lodge and relax and chill after a long drive. Dinner and overnight stay at Arcadia Cottages Lake Bunyonyi/Lake Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
Day 2: All day at the lake Bunyonyi
Wake up and have breakfast then set off for a nature walk/hike on the surrounding hills. You will take a village guide to lead you through the hills. The hike is so scenic as you walk through small villages meeting the local people. Later return to the lodge and refresh, have lunch.
After lunch, take a boat ride/canoe to visit some of the historical 29 islands on the lake like the kyahugye island where you will find some wildlife including the Zebras, waterbucks, impalas and kobs. Visit Akampeine island-a punishment island where the pregnant unmarried girls were dumped to die and finally the Bwama and Njuyeera Island-where missionary Dr.Leonard Sharp founded a leper colony. Return in the evening at the lodge to relax and chill. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
Wake up at leisure, have breakfast and set off for your 7 hours drive back to Kampala with en route lunch in Mbarara. Proceed to arrive at your Hotel in Kampala or proceed to Entebbe to find your awaiting flight back home.
