Detailed itinerary
Day 1 of the 3 days Uganda gorilla habituation experience from Kigali
Arrival and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park, upon arrival at Kigali international airport on the first day of the 3 days Uganda gorilla habituation experience from Kigali, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours drive and on the way you will pass via Cyanika border in Kisoro district and have great views of the rolling hills in Rwanda, traditional homesteads, local people, Kigezi hills among others. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge and have lunch.
Batwa cultural tour, after lunch you will prepare for an afternoon Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the pygmies who used to live in Bwindi forest before it was gazetted into a national park. During the Batwa cultural tour you will visit their homesteads where they live, farmlands, learn about their lifestyle, way of living, taste their traditional dishes, listen to ancient stories and traditional songs among others. After the cultural tour you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park
Gorilla habituation experience, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days Uganda gorilla habituation experience from Kigali you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of gorilla habituation. After the briefing you will be grouped in a grouped into 4 people and together with a team of researchers, scientists, doctors, park guides and rangers you will start trekking in the jungle to where the gorillas slept the previous night. During trekking you will have views of other wildlife species such as birds, animals like forest elephants, bushbucks, other primates like red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, view different plant species among others. Once the gorillas under habituation are found you will be allowed to spend 4 hours with them in their natural environment which gives you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities, participate in monitoring and recording of their behaviors, learn about the naming of gorillas, take many photos and record the moments with a flash less camera. After the face to face encounter with the gentle giants you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and drive to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Departure to Kigali
After breakfast on the last day of the 3 days Uganda gorilla habituation experience from Kigali, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kigali passing via Cyanika boarder. Upon arrival in Kigali you will go for a city tour where you will visit Kigali genocide memorial centre, Kimironko market where you will be able to interact with the local vendors, buy some souvenirs, fruits among others. After the city tour you will have lunch in one of the restaurants and then transfer to Kigali international airport for your departure flight or your driver guide will drop you off at any hotel depending on your schedule.
