Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali International Airport

On arrival at Kigali International Airport our company driver will pick you up, give you a short briefing about your 4 days Rwanda double gorilla trekking safari and then transfer. After the briefing you will go for a city tour in Kigali where you will visit Kigali genocide, craft markets, culture sites like Kandt museum of natural history among others.

You will later have lunch at hotel des mille Collins and then drive to Volcanoes national park which is located in northwestern park of Rwanda.  On your way to the park you will have great scenic views of the villages, trading centers, hills in Rwanda among others and the journey takes about 2 hour drive. On arrival you will check in at your lodge have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: First Gorilla trekking

On your second day you will wake up have an early breakfast at the lodge and with your packed lunch and drinking water you will meet up with your driver guide who will take you to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing about the expectations and the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be grouped into 8 people and allocated a gorilla family and a park guide, you will later start trekking which takes about 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla group because gorillas like to move from one place to another in search of food.

Once the gorilla family has been found you will spend one hour with the gorillas in their natural habitat as you learn more about their behaviors, habits, watching them as they feed, breastfeed, taking photos with flash less camera among others which gives you extra ordinary experiences on your safari.

After gorilla trekking you will head back to the lodge for relation or opt for an evening nature walk to the twin lakes namely Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo where you will have great views of the landscapes, wetland, hills, different bird species and then head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Second gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

On day 3 you will wake up have an early breakfast at the lodge and with your packed lunch and drinking water you will meet up with your driver guide who will take you to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be grouped into 8 people and allocated a different gorilla family to trek.

 You will then start trekking in the jungle with a park guide who will be sharing information about the mountain gorillas.  gorilla trekking takes about 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas and once found, you will spend one hour with them in their natural habitat as you learn more about their lifestyle, behaviors, habits, take photos and record the moments. After the gorilla trekking experience you will head back to your lodge for an evening relaxation.

Day 4: Dian Fossey hike and departure

On your fourth day you will wake up have a relaxed breakfast and then proceed to the headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing you will start an adventurous hike to Dian Fossey tombs with a park guide who will be sharing information about her foundation and work with the mountain gorillas. You will visit her former Karisoke research Centre, and see where she was buried close to her favorite gorilla Digit.

After the hike you will slope down meet your driver guide and then return back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Kigali airport where you will be dropped off for your next flight or a drop off at any place of convenience.
