4 Days Semuliki national park safari is an exciting safari that will give you an opportunity to explore Semuliki national park which is located in western Uganda at Uganda’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. During the safari in the park you will be able to participate in interesting activities like chimpanzee trekking where you will spend time with the endangered chimpanzees in their natural habitat, game drive where you will have great wildlife views of elephants, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, warthogs, buffaloes, boat cruise on river Semuliki up to Lake Albert where you will be able to view hippos, Nile crocodiles, water birds and also visit Sempaya hot springs.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1 of the 4 days Semuliki national park safari
Pick up and transfer to Semuliki national park, upon arrival at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the 4 days Semuliki national park safari you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Semuliki national park which located in western Uganda in Bwanba county in Bundibugyo district on Uganda’s border with the democratic republic of Congo. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator to take photos, buy souvenirs and then proceed the journey with en-route lunch in Fort Portal town. After lunch you will continue the journey which will be filled with great views of the beautiful scenery, traditional homesteads, Rwenzori mountain ranges, tea plantations among others. Upon arrival in the park you go for an evening game drive where you will be able to spot animals like buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, among others. After the game drive you will drive to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 4 days Semuliki national park safari you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to view animals when they are most active. The game drive will be done in a comfortable pop up safari vehicle which helps you to have great views of animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, duikers among others grazing in the open plains with due, if you are lucky you will be able to spot predators like leopards, hyenas before they go back to their hiding areas, view different bird species, primates like baboons, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
Boat cruise, after lunch you will go for an amazing boat cruise which is done along river Semuliki up to Lake Albert. the boat ride takes about 2 hours ride and gives you an opportunity to see animals like hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view elephants, buffaloes, warthogs along the water banks, view water birds like the rare shoebill stork, red billed dwarf hornbill, cormorants, kingfishers, fish eagles, bee-eaters among others. After the boat cruise you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and hot spring tour
Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on the third day of the 4 days Semuliki national park safari you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a park guide who is well conversant with chimpanzee trails and then start trekking in the forest which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located. During trekking you will be able to spot different bird species, other primates like grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, view different plant and tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural environment where you will be able to learn about their behaviors, habits, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, grooming each other among others. After the one hour with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will go to visit the Sempaya hot springs which is the most attraction in the park. The hot springs are divided into two the male and the female hot spring which is the most interesting and boils at around 2 meters high. On the way to the hot springs you will pass through the forest where you will be able to spot primates like grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, view birds like yellow throated tinker bird, blue breasted kingfisher, honeyguide greenbul, forest hornbills among others. The water has high temperatures which rise up to 100 degrees Celsius and can be used to boil eggs, green bananas and prepare tea. After the hot springs tour you will return back to the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Departure to Kampala
On the last day of the 4 days Semuliki national park safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver-guide to transfer to Kampala with en-route lunch in Mbarara town. After lunch you will proceed to Kampala where you will be dropped off at Entebbe airport for your departure flight or dropped off at the hotel.
