Detailed itinerary
Day 1 of 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth park safari
Transfer to Lake Mburo national park, on the first day of your 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park safari you will be welcomed by our driver guide at Entebbe airport who will give you a short briefing about your wildlife safari in Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park. After the briefing you will start the journey to Lake Mburo national park via Masaka, Kayabwe at the equator and then to the park. The journey to the park takes about 4 to 5 hours’ drive and on arrival you will check into the lodge and have lunch.
After lunch you will meet up with your driver guide for an afternoon boat cruise which is an amazing activity that will give you an opportunity to view various wildlife species in the park at a close range as you cruise on Lake Mburo. The boat cruise starts at around 2:00pm and takes about 2 hours ride. During the boat cruise you will be able to view various vegetation types, plant species, animals like antelopes, buffaloes drinking water on the banks, hippos and crocodiles in water and some water birds such as the hornbills, cormorants, fish eagle among other. The boat cruise is an exciting activity which allows you to view various animals and take beautiful photos. After the boat cruise you will meet up with your driver guide and drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Game drive and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
You will wake up, have breakfast on the second day of your 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park safari, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide for the morning game drive. There are various tracks that you can take during the game drive such as the zebra track where you will be able to view animals like zebras, bushbucks, oribi, among others along the roadsides, Kazuma track where you will have a great view of Lake Mburo national park, Kigambira loop where you will view animals like the bushbucks, duikers among others.
After the game drive you will drive out of the park and start your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which is located in the southwestern part of Uganda. On your way you will have a stopover for lunch at Igongo cultural Centre. After lunch you will continue with the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which takes about 4 hour drive and on arrival you will check into the lodge have dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Game drive/ lion tracking and boat cruise
On the third day of your 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park safari you will wake up early have breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kasenyi plains for the morning game drive or lion tracking. During the game drive you will be able to view animal species such as the leopards, lions, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, bush pigs, and various bird species such as the papyrus gonolek, white backed night heron, yellow throated cuckoo, red chested sunbird, white winged warbler among others because Queen Elizabeth national park is blessed with abundant animal species. After the game drive which takes about 4 to 5 hours, you will drive to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer for the afternoon boat cruise at Kazinga channel which is a water body that joins Lake George and Lake Edward. The boat cruise at Kazinga channel starts at around 2:00pm at the landing site near the luxury lodge Mweya safari lodge and takes about 2 hours. The boat cruise is an exciting and adventurous activity that gives you an opportunity to cruise near animals like elephants, buffaloes, antelopes which will be drinking water along the banks, large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water and various water birds such as martial eagle, papyrus gonolek, pelicans, African skimmers, cormorants, African spoonbills, fish eagles, king fisher’s among others. After the boat ride you will drive back to your lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Kyamburo gorge and Ishasha sector
You will wake up, and have breakfast on the fourth day of your 5 days Lake Mburo park safari and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee trekking. Kyambura Gorge which is also known as the valley of apes is located in north eastern part of Queen Elizabeth national park and it takes about 30kilometres to reach there. On arrival at the headquarters, you will have a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking and then start trekking in the jungle with a guide who is experienced and conversant with the trails in the forest.
Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge takes about 30 minutes to 3 hours or even longer depending on the location of the chimpanzees because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. Once the chimpanzees have been found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat learning about their lifestyles, behaviors, habits, recording videos and taking pictures with a flash less camera. After the face to face interaction with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for lunch and refreshment.

After lunch you will drive to Ishasha sector which is located in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park. Ishasha sector is famously known for the tree climbing lions therefore on arrival which takes about 2 hour drive, you will engage in a game drive where you will be able to view the tree climbing lions which will be lying up in the acacia, fig tree branches staring down on the antelopes which will be grazing in the open savannah plains. It’s believed that lions in Ishasha sector climb trees for various reasons such as to get an interrupted resting time, to cool off from too much heat on the ground, to clearly monitor their prey, to protect themselves from insect bites such as the tsetse flies. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Departure
On the last day of your 5 days Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national park, you will wake up, have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide for a short game drive in the park. During the game drive you will look out for animals that you will have missed on the previous game drive and after you will drive out of the park and start the journey to Kampala. On your way you will have a stopover for lunch at Igongo cultural Centre and then continue the journey to Kampala where your driver guide will drop you at the airport or at any place of convenience.
