Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale national park, depending on your location on day 1 of the 6 days Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari our driver guide will pick you up from Entebbe international airport or hotel, brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale national park in western Uganda. The journey takes about 6 to 7 hours drive and on the way you will have a stopover at the Equator where you will take photos, buy craft souvenirs and then proceed with another stopover at Igongo cultural centre for lunch. After lunch you will continue the journey to Kibale national park with stunning views of beautiful scenery, tea plantations, Rwenzori Mountains, crater lakes among others. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on day 2 of the 6 days Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about chimpanzees and also conversant with trails in the forest. Trekking of chimpanzees in Kibale national park starts at around 8:00 am and takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees slept the previous night. During trekking you will be able to view other primates like baboons, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys among others and once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their environment which gives you an opportunity to watch them feed, breastfeed, play, fight, rest, mate, hunt, observe their behaviors, take photos and record videos. After the incredible moment with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda. On the way you will have en-route lunch in Fort Portal where after you will proceed to the park and upon arrival you will go for an evening game drive where you will have great views of animals like Uganda kobs, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks among others. After the game drive you will drive to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on day 3 of the 6 days Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will have a chance to view animals like elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, warthogs, bush pigs among others grazing in the open savannah plains with due, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas looking for a morning hunt, view different bird species among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.
Afternoon boat cruise, after lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. The boat cruise takes about 2 hours and offers you great views of large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs along the shores, aquatic birds like cormorants, kingfishers, fish eagles, bee-eaters among others. After the boat ride you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After breakfast on day 4 of the 6 days Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is famously known for harboring half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. It’s a 3 to 4 hours drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park and on the way you will pass through Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park. Ishasha sector is known for harboring the unique tree climbing lions which will be viewed lying up in acacia/fig tree branches during the game drive. After the game drive in Ishasha sector you will have lunch and after proceed the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on day 5 of the 6 days Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a park guide who will lead you during trekking and a habituated gorilla family to trek. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes about 30 minutes to 8 hours depending on where the mountain gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will have stunning views of other primates, forest birds, plant species among others. Once the gorilla family is located you will be able to spend one hour with the endangered gorillas in their natural habitat where you will be able to learn about their habits, take photos, watch them feed, breastfeed, record the breathtaking moments among others which gives you lifetime memories. After the face to face interaction with the gentle giants you will trek back to the starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking, meet up with your driver guide to drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Departure to Kampala
After a relaxed breakfast on day 6 of the 6 days Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala. On the way you will have spectacular views of the Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands, traditional homesteads, beautiful scenery and en-route lunch in Mbarara town. After lunch you will continue the journey to Kampala and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advise.
