Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kibale forest national park
Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will be met and welcomed by our company guide/driver and transferred to Kibale forest national park – located in the western park of Uganda, 5 hours drive with en route lunch and great views of the country’s landscape and the people. Later then connect to your lodge for relaxation.
Dinner and overnight stay at Kyaninga lodge/Kibale Chimpanzee guest house
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking experience and nature walk at Bigodi wetland
After early morning breakfast, connect to Kibale forest for your chimpanzee tracking experience with your packed snacks and water. You will first report at the park head quarters for a briefing before entering the forest for the activity. During your tracking, expect to see a lot of primate species like chimpanzees, monkeys and other animals like the forest elephants, buffaloes, bush pig and duiker, warthogs, reptiles as well as a colorful variety of butterflies, after spending an hour with the chimps, return to the Lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, the driver will take you for a nature walk at Bigodi wetland where you will enjoy the silence but only the whispers and sounds of birds. you will be able to spot various bird species while here. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and visit the crater lakes
After having morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth national park-Uganda’s second largest national park. This is a 3 hours drive from Kibale forest national park. You will have a stopover at the equator and take pictures then proceed to the park.
You will then head out to explore the crater lakes and go for a nature walk in the Maramagambo forest. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari lodge/Park View Safari Lodge
Day 4: Morning Game drive and boat cruise at Kazinga Channel
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will set out for the morning game drive in search for early risers in the Kasenyi area. The park has diverse Eco-system of grassy plains, rivers, crater lakes, forests, swamps and lakes. These are a home to various types of wildlife (big 4) and a game drive in Queen Elizabeth will reward you with views of animals such as lions, leopards, forest hogs, buffalos, elephants, waterbuck, Uganda Kob and other types of antelopes.
After return for lunch then go for a 3 hours launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This cruise will let you pass through a place of the highest concentration of hippos and you may also see many animals drinking at the water’s edge. The cruise also offers good platform for photography, bird watching and games. Dinner and overnight stay at as above
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
Early morning after you have had breakfast, meet the driver for your transfer to Kisoro, approximately 4 hours drive via Ishasha sector and view the tree climbing lions, with lunch stopovers. Arrive at the lodge in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Ichumbi gorilla lodge (mid range)
Day 6: Mountain gorilla trekking experience.
Certainly this is one of the most exciting days of your safari. Breakfast will be served early and lunch will be packed. The briefing is at 7 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anything from 2-7 hours through the steep, densely forested hills and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away. Upon completion of this magical encounter, you will drive you back to the lodge where you can relax in the afternoon or go for another walk to visit one of the communities around. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.
Day 7: Transfer to back to Kampala
After early morning breakfast, embark on a 6-7 hours journey back to Kampala with en route lunch and Equator. Arrive in the evening, refresh and connect to the airport for your scheduled flight back home. End of Safari
