Katara Lodge
Katara Lodge is a luxury accommodation situated in the western part of Uganda in Queen Elizabeth national park just 15km from the katunguru gate. The lodge is located in an ideal and most visited area in Uganda. You can be at the lodge either by road via –Mbarara or air transport to the nearby airstrip in kasese or Mweya. Its approximately 7-hour drive(410km) from Kampala to the park and 2 hours and 30 minutes flight from Entebbe to the nearby airstrip in Queen Elizabeth National Park by Aero link.
Queen Elizabeth national park is the second-largest and most visited national park found in western Uganda near the historical town of Fort portal in districts of Kasese, Kamwengye, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri. The park occupies a total area of 1,987 km squared. The park extends from Lake George in the north-east to Lake Edward in the south-west and includes the Kazinga Channel connecting the two lakes. It’s the wide channel in Uganda with 32 kilometers long. There are different accommodations in Queen Elizabeth national park; budget, mid-range, and luxury accommodations. The park has a variety of flora and fauna over 100 mammals and 612 species of bird which attract more tourists. Katara lodge gives ideal base to explore Queen Elizabeth National Park with its many activities which include; Game viewing, you spot different animals in the park like buffaloes, elephants, leopard, impalas, antelopes, zebras and many in kasenyi sector and tree climbing lions in ishasha sector, Boat cruise at Kazinga Channel that enables visitors to spot aquatic animals like Hippos, Crocodiles, etc. bird watching, chimpanzee tracking in kyambura gorge, forest walk in Karinzu forest or maramagambo forest, Hiking, mining at Lake katwe, community tours to the local villages, Birding at katara and many more activities. Katara Lodge is comprised of Eight beautiful luxury cottages that reflect the local building style with grass thatched roofs overlooking the open savannah in a cozy atmosphere. , mosquito nets and private wooden balconies and sitting areas, you relax while enjoying the stunning view of the park and animals visiting the lodge. En-suite bathrooms rooms offer flushing toilet, double vanity, bath tabs/ shower with hot and cold running water. Rooms are well decorated and furnished equipped with Satellite, TVs, extinguishers and other facilities. Rooms have excellent and comfortable clean beddings. There are fireplaces at the lodge that provides warmth to visitors during nights. Rooms vary in different categories; single, doubles, twins, family rooms with different rates from 300$ per night and above ( note that high season rate is different to low season rate).
