Samburu Game Lodge
Samburu Game Lodge is both a luxury and mid-range accommodation (4star) situated in Samburu national reserve in Kenya. The lodge stands on the 10 acres of riverine forest on the western Bank of Uaso Nyiro in Northern Kenya with in Samburu national reserve. The lodge is found in the rugged landscape with pointed mountains beyond. You can be at the lodge either by road or air transport. It is approximately 5hrs and 30 minutes drive(314.8KM) from Nairobi to Samburu game lodge and 2hr flight from Nairobi to Wilson Airport then to direct to Samburu airport which takes 55 minutes.
Samburu Game lodge consists of 65 beautiful cottages built-in local styles with grass-thatched roofs that are well decorated and furnished with mosquito nets, hair driers, and private wooden balconies and sitting areas, you relax while overlooking the spectacular view of the river and surrounding area. En-suite bathrooms rooms offer flushing toilets, bath tabs/ shower with hot and cold water. Rooms are well equipped with queen-sized beds, Satellite, TVs, extinguishers, and other facilities. The rooms are equipped with excellent and comfortable beddings. There are fireplaces at the lodge that provides warmth to visitors during nights at the lodges. Rooms are in different categories; single, double, twin and triple/ family rooms and rooms cost 300$ per night and above ( note that high season rate is different to low season rate)
Samburu national park is among the less-known parks and smallest park found in the northern part near Ewaso Ng’iro river in Kenya in Samburu country. The park occupies a total area of 165 square kilometers and 350 km from Nairobi. Samburu country is found in the former rift valley of Kenya. The park is the home of various animals over 200 mammals like; Giraffes, Buffaloes , Elephants , Big cats, leopards, lions, zebras Warthogs , olive baboons, etc and 390 species of birds which include; Sunbirds, bee-eaters, sunbirds, Tawny Eagles, Grey-headed Kingfisher, Yellow-billed hornbill, and many more birds. Samburu are sub-tribe of the Masai, they are the Nilotic people of Northcentral Kenya. They are semi-nomadic pastoralists with herds of cattle, goat, sheep, and camel.
