Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Rwenzori National park
Depending on your location in Kampala/Entebbe, you will meet your safari driver guide to transfer to South Western part of Uganda through the beautiful scenery of the countryside and its people. It takes about 6 to 7 hours driving via Mityana-Mubende road. Arrive in Fort portal and stop for lunch at one of the best restaurants in town, thereafter, proceed driving to Kasese close to Mountain Rwenzori national park foothills at your accommodations where you will have your dinner and overnight stay at Ruboni Community Banda for budget/Hotel Margarita for mid-range/Equator Snow Lodge for Luxury
Day 2; Hike Mount Rwenzori national park – 2,300 meters
After your breakfast at the hotel, connect to the park where you will receive a briefing then start the nature walk through the Ruboni Hill with your packed water and lunch along with your guided ranger guides. Hike through the scenic views of the River Mubuku to reach a height of about 2,300 meters and be able to view Mount Baker as the closest peak and enjoy the panoramic view of the mountain of the Moon and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Stanley. Later afternoon, start descending back, meet your safari guide driver and return to your lodge to rest from the challenging hike. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 3: Village walk/Cultural hike
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your safari guide who will connect to one of the village trials living around the mountain like the Bulemba-Ihandiro cultural trail which impressive views of the local Bakonzo people. The hike through this trial may take 6 to 7 hours to the top hill cultural museum with en-route visit of the Bat Valley – a holy place for the Bakonzo and River Kamusonge. After visiting the community, return and connect to visit the Ruboni community where you will be entertained in form of sing and dance by the local community where you will also buy local handcraft to support the community. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at hotel as above
Day 4: Return to Kampala
On this last day of your 4 days Mount Rwenzori national park hike, enjoy a delicious breakfast then set off for Kampala/Entebbe after checking-out of the lodge. En-route visit the crater lakes in Fort portal as you return to Kampala. You will have en-route lunch in Mubende town. The safari guide will drop you off at a location you will advise in Kampala/Entebbe or be dropped at Entebbe international airport for your onward flight back home.
