Detailed itinerary

Day 1 of the 5 days fly in safari to Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth national park

Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park, depending on the time of arrival on the first day of your 5 days fly in safari to Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth national park you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about your safari and then as you prepare for your domestic flight to Bwindi impenetrable national park. There are morning flights which depart Entebbe airport at 7:00am and 10:15am arriving at 8:45 and 11:25 respectively at Kihihi airstrip. The afternoon flight departs at 12:00 pm and arrives at 14:40pm. During the flight you will have aerial views of the landscape, hills and upon arrival your driver guide will pick you up at the airport and drive you to lodge for lunch.

Community tour, after lunch you will go for community tour in the neighboring villages around the park. During the community tour you will visit the Batwa/ pygmies who used to live in the Bwindi forest before it was gazetted into a national park. The community tour is an interesting activity where you will interact with the local people which give you an opportunity to learn about their lifestyle, culture, tradition among others. you will therefore walk through the Batwa farmlands, village centers where you will view their homesteads, the forest where they used to live view different plant species which were used as medicine to cure various illness, visit the coffee and tea plantations where you will participate in tea harvesting and view the local people grinding, roasting, drying coffee and packing. You will also be able to see and taste local brew that is made from bananas, be entertained through music, dance and drama from Batwa women, listen to ancient stories among others. After the community tour which takes about 2 to 4 hours you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on the second day of your 5 days fly in safari to Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth national park you will carry packed lunch, meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with the trails in the jungle and then start trekking. Trekking of the mountain gorillas takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where they are located and during trekking you will be able to view various wildlife species including primates like monkeys, baboons, bird species, animals like forest elephants, warthogs among other.

Once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural environment which gives you an opportunity to take photos, record videos, learn more about their lifestyle, habits, behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities among others which gives you fascinating and unforgettable experiences. After spending one hour with the gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

On the third day of your 5 days fly in safari to Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth national park you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. It’s a 3 to 4 hours drive and on your way you will pass via Ishasha sector which is situated in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park. Ishasha sector is famously known for the tree climbing lions which will be viewed lying up in the fig trees during the game drive. After the game drive in Ishasha sector, you will have en-route lunch and continue with the journey which offers you great views of animals, trees, bird species among others as you drive through the park to the lodge where you will check in, relax as you prepare yourself for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Game drive/lion tracking and boat cruise

Game drive/ lion tracking experience, after an early breakfast on the fourth day of your 5 days fly in safari to Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth national park you will meet up with your driver and go for an interesting game drive in the park. The game drive is one of the most popular activities carried out in the park and it’s done in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you will be able to view animals such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, water bucks, Uganda kobs, leopards, warthogs, bushbucks, colorful bird species among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for lunch.

Boat cruise, after lunch you will drive to the landing site near Mweya safari lodge for an exciting boat cruise which is done on Kazinga channel a water body that connects lake George and lake Edward. During the boat cruise you will be able to cruise meters away from water animals like hippos, crocodiles, bird species like cormorants, fish eagles, kingfishers, papyrus gonolek and other animals like elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, Uganda kobs, buffaloes among others which will be drinking water along the shores. After the boat ride which takes about 2 hours you will meet up with your guide and transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Game drive and fly to Entebbe international airport

Game drive, on the last day of your 5 days fly in safari to Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth national park, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a short game drive in the park. During the game drive you will get an opportunity of viewing wildlife species which you will have missed during the previous game drive. After the game drive you will drive to Mweya airstrip for your flight to Entebbe airport.
