Entrance fees of Queen Elizabeth national park 2021 are the charges that are paid by tourists at the main gates in order to access the park and engage in different interesting activities. Queen Elizabeth national park is the second largest and one of the oldest national parks located in western Uganda in four districts that is Kasese, Rubirizi, Rukungire and Kamwenge. The park is known for harboring about 95 mammals including the big four of the big five mammals (lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards), other animals like Uganda kobs, warthogs, giant forest hogs, primates like chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys and more than 600 bird species which makes it one of the top birding destinations in Uganda.

Entrance Fees of Queen Elizabeth National Park 2021

Queen Elizabeth national park is popularly known for harboring the tree climbing lions which will be viewed in Ishasha sector southern part of the park and offers different activities such as game drives in Kasenyi plains, bird watching, guided nature walks in Maramagambo forest, hot air balloon safari, boat cruise on Kazinga channel and chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge. Entrance fees of Queen Elizabeth national park 2021 are drafted by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) which is a government body in charge of tourism and they are charged according to the status of the tourists for example foreign non residents, foreign residents and east African citizens, all tourists will be required to present valid identification documents to confirm resident status. A day’s entrance ticket to Queen Elizabeth national park is valid for 24 hours from the time of entrance and extra time spent in the park after 24 hours will be charged as an extra day. Children are persons aged between 5-15 years and persons below 5 years are exempt. Entrance fees of Queen Elizabeth national park 2021 are as follows. 

Park entrance fees

  • Adults  

Foreign nonresident adult is charged USD 40 per person, foreign resident adult is charged USD 30 per person and an East African citizens is charged UGX 20,000 per person

  • Children 

Foreign nonresident child is charged USD 20 per person, foreign resident child is charged USD 10 per person and an East African child is charged UGX 5,000 per person.

  • Ugandan pupils or students are charged UGX 3,000 per person
  • Tertiary institutions/universities are charged UGX 5,000 per person
  • Uganda wildlife clubs are charged UGX 2,000 per person

Annual park entrance passes

The annual park entrance passes for Queen Elizabeth national park apply to foreign residents in Uganda and East African citizens only, vehicle entrance is paid separately. Annual park entrance passes are not valid for package activities like hiking, chimpanzee trekking among others and foreign residents require a work permit valid for one year to qualify for an annual pass.

A foreign resident individual is charged USD 350 and an East African citizen is charged UGX 150,000

  • Couple

Foreign resident couples are charged USD 500 and East African citizen couples are charged UGX 200,000

  • Family of a maximum of 4 children

Foreign residents are charged USD 700 and East Africa citizens are charged UGX 300,000

  • Annual corporate pass

Foreign residents are charged USD 1,500 and East African citizens are charged UGX 2,500,000

  • Safari guide, this is a professionally trained and licensed individual who guides tourists and the entrance passes applies to an East African citizen who is charged UGX 100,000
  • Taxi driver is charged UGX 100,000
  • Tour company driver is an individual from a recognized Uganda tour company who drives tourists to the park and will not be charged as long as you are from a recognized tour company.

  • Launch cruise 

Foreign nonresident and foreign resident are charged USD 30 per person and an East African citizen is charged UGX 30,000 per person 

  • School group (per person)

 An East Africa citizen school group is charged UGX 10,000 per person

  • School group (per group)

East African citizen school groups are charged UGX 350,000 per group

Launch cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park takes a maximum of 40 people and the boat trips takes about 2 hours. Minimum boat charge of 4 foreign residents are charged USD 120 and 4 Ugandans are charged UGX 120,000

Guided game drives (private)

  • Day guided game drives for foreign non residents, foreign residents are charged USD 20 per vehicle and East African citizens are charged UGX 20,000 per vehicle.
  • Night guided game drives for foreign non residents, foreign residents are charged USD 30 per person and East African citizens are charged UGX 30,000 per person.

Only pre-registered vehicles will undertake the night game drives and use of UWA guides is mandatory for night game drives.

  • Night game drive vehicles for foreign non residents, foreign residents are charged USD 40 per person and East African citizens are charged UGX 40,000 per person.

UWA Executive Buses UGX 800,000 per day and the fees includes the driver, excludes fuel. Minimum charge for the game drive vehicle is an equivalent of 3 persons.

Foreign non residents will be charged USD 30 per person, foreign residents are charged USD 15 and East African citizens are charged UGX 15,000

East African citizens students guided walk are charged UGX 10,000 per 6 people

Aircrafts landing fees

Aircraft landing fees exclude entry fees payable by passengers and pilots en-route do not pay entry fees if they spend less than 2 hours in the park.

  • 4 to 6 seater aircrafts for foreign residents are charged USD 30 and Ugandans are charged UGX 60,000
  • 7 to 14 seater  aircrafts for foreign residents are charged USD 40 and Ugandans are charged UGX 80,000
  • 15 to 20 seater  aircrafts for foreign residents are charged USD 50 and Ugandans are charged UGX 100,000
  • 21 seater and above aircrafts for foreign residents are charged USD 60 and UGX 120,000 for Ugandans.
