Other activities which are done around Kibale forest national park include chimpanzee habituation experiences which involve getting the chimpanzees used to the presence of humans in their natural habitat. Tourists spend more time observing the chimpanzees during this experience. Permits for chimpanzee habituation at the destination cost 300 USD for foreign nonresidents, 250 USD for foreign residents and 250,000 Uganda shillings for East African citizens.

When visiting Kibale national park, tourists can also take part in guided nature walks, visiting the Bigodi wetlands and engage in bird watching experiences around the destination.

  • Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest

Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest is done in the southern part of Murchison falls national park located in north western Uganda.

During tours in Budongo forest, the chimpanzee trekking experience is done in the Kaniyo Pabidi area and the activity is done in the morning and also in the afternoon. Tourists have a briefing at the Kaniyo Pabidi before engaging in the search for the chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

The permit for chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest costs 130 USD per person for foreign nonresidents. This permit is issued to individuals above the age of 12 years who are allowed to engage in the activity.

Tourists spend about 3 to 4 hours searching for the chimpanzees in the Budongo forest and have 1 hour in the presence of the chimpanzees and enjoy recording them and taking photos while watching the behavior of the chimpanzees.

The chimpanzee trekking experience is done in groups and tourists follow different trails in the forest in search for the chimpanzees. They also encounter other primates in the Budongo forest such as black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys among others.
