Low Season Gorilla Trekking in Uganda: Gorilla trekking is one of the exceptional activities that attracts a large number of tourists in Uganda, and it involves moving on foot into the tropical rainforest in search of habituated mountain gorillas and, once found, spending one hour with them in their habitat.

Gorilla trekking in Uganda is done in two destinations: Mgahinga gorilla national park and Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, on the other hand, offers gorilla trekking experiences in four sectors: Buhoma in the north, Rushaga in the south, Ruhija in the east, and Nkuringo in the south.

Cost of low-season gorilla trekking permits in Uganda

Uganda has introduced low-season or discounted gorilla trekking permits, which are intended to stimulate travel during the low season and also maintain remarkable primate tracking experiences in Uganda. Low season rates are applicable during the months of April, May, and November. Low-season gorilla trekking permits in Uganda cost 600 USD per person for foreign non-residents and 500 USD per person for foreign residents.

The price of gorilla trekking permits during the peak season in the months of June, July, August, September, December, January and February will, however, remain the same at 800 USD per person for foreign nonresidents, 700 USD per person for foreign residents, 500 USD per person for African citizens and 300,000 UGX per person for East African citizens.

When to book low-season gorilla trekking permits in Uganda

The Uganda Wildlife Authority introduced discounted low-season gorilla trekking permits. They can only be booked through a trusted tour operator like Achieve Global Safaris. Low season is also known as the rainy period, when the tropical rainforests in Bwindi impenetrable national park will be muddy and slippery; therefore, there are a number of items that tourists should pack or carry when going for their gorilla trekking adventure, including comfortable hiking shoes, long socks, a rain jacket/Poncho, a long-sleeved shirt and trouser,  garden gloves, a warm sweater, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, a packed lunch and drinking water, a walking stick, a backpack, a camera and extra batteries, and a pair of binoculars, among others.
