Akagera Rhino Lodge
Akagera Rhino lodge is budget accommodation found in Kayonza at Nyagakonji hill, close to the main entrance of Akagera National Park. The lodge is outside the park just 10 minutes walk (6KM) to the park You can either be at the lodge by road or air transport from International countries. Kigali International airport is about 10 minutes out of Kigali city and its where Akagera journey begins. It takes approximately 2 hours (110km) drive from Kigali International Airport to Akagera national park.
Akagera Rhino lodge is comprised of 20 spacious and comfortable rooms built in African style with woods, stones and grass-thatched roofs that are well decorated for budget choice. All rooms have en suite facilities like flushing toilets, mosquito nets , hot and cold running showers/ bathtubs. Rooms are well equipped with Satellite, TVs, driers and other facilities with Private wooden balconies, sitting areas and verandas to relax in while enjoying the fantastic view of the Lake Ihema and surrounding area. Spacious and comfortable rooms with indulgent beddings. There are fireplaces at the lodge that provides warmth to visitors during the night. Akagera national park is found in the eastern part of Rwanda country close to the border with Tanzania. The park is perfectly best for only big-five reserves namely; Buffaloes, Leopards, Rhinos, Elephants, and lions since there large pride of lions in the park that can be spotted on a daily game drive. Rwanda has a different national park (Nyungwe and Volcanoes national park with different attractions ) tourism in Rwanda is the best and leading activity, Akagera is among the best and most visited park in Rwanda. The park occupies a total area of 1,122km squared. The park is characterized by woodlands, swamps, savannah and low mountains. Akagera national park is the home of various wildlife with over 20 mammal species which include; Buffaloes, Elephants, over 15 number of Lions in the park, Zebras, Impalas, antelopes, Giraffes, Hynes, Leopards, hippo, Crocodiles, etc and over 480 bird species which include; fish eagles, Cattle Egret, Hamerkop, Sacred and Hadada Ibis, Augur Buzzard, Long-crested Eagle, and Pied Crow, Black-headed and Viellot’s Black Weavers, Grey-backed Fiscals, Fan-tailed Widowbird and Caruthers Cisticola. It is 50$ per person to enter the park.
