The lodge is situated above the lake on the hillside. Its approximately 7 hours drive from Kampala City to Bunyonyi (450km squared) and 2-hour drive if one is driving from Kigali City. Lake bunyonyi is the place of many little birds situated in the south western part of Uganda between two districts Kabale and Kisoro close Rwanda borders. The lake is about 25km long and 7km wide. The lake has a maximum depth of 900 meters and it is considered to be the fourth deepest Lake Africa. The lake was formed 10,000 years ago through the process of formation as a result of the lava flow that emerged from one of the Virunga mountains and managed to occupy the Ndego river.
