Gahinga Lodge | Mgahinga National Park
Gahinga Lodge is a luxury accommodation found in the south western part of Uganda near Kisoro town (14KM) on the edge of Mgahinga national park. You can access the lodge either by road or air transport. It is approximately (562km) 9-10hrs drive from Kampala City via Masaka and Mbarara to Mgahinga national park and 2hrs flight from Entebbe to kisoro airstrip. The flights always depart Entebbe early morning and mid-morning to kisoro. The lodge is convenient and affordable for luxury guests visiting mgahinga national park.
Mgahinga national park is situated in the south western part of Uganda on the border with congo and Rwanda. The park covers the total area of about 33.7 sq kilometers, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is found in the Virunga Mountains and encompasses three inactive volcanoes, namely Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo. The park has over 39 species of mammals with more gorillas and endangered golden monkeys which attract tourists from different countries. Other animals include, buffaloes, leopard, bushbucks, spotted hyena, and over 79 bird species. Mgahinga national park has over 80 gorillas but with one habituated gorilla family known as “Nyakagezi gorilla family”. Golden monkey permit is at 90$ but starting from the next year 2020 it will be at 100$ and a gorilla permit at 600$. Mgahinga national park has enough food that’s why other primates migrate from congo and Rwanda to this park. Mgahinga has different accommodations like; budget, mid-range, and luxury which are friendly and affordable for visitors visiting the park and kisoro district. There are more activities to do while in Mgahinga national park which include; Gorilla trekking experience, Gorilla habituation experience, Golden monkey tracking, nature walks in the park, hiking around the foothills of virunga volcanoes and have a chance to spot forest birds, Birding in the park, cultural encounter in Mgahinga like visiting the batwa, volcano, and mountain climbing and many activities.

Gahinga lodge is comprised of seven unique guest bandas where 6 are standards and 1 deluxe room reflecting the local building style with artisan touches, mosquito nets and private wooden balconies and sitting areas, you relax while enjoying the stunning view of virunga volcanoes, mount sabinyo, and park surroundings. En-suite bathrooms rooms offer flushing toilet, double vanity, bath tabs/ shower with hot and cold running water. Banda are well decorated and furnished. Rooms are well equipped with Satellite, TVs, extinguishers and other facilities. Rooms are equipped with comfortable beds. There are fireplaces at the lodge that provides warmth to visitors at the lodges. Rooms are in different categories; single, double and triple rooms and rooms cost 300$ per night and above ( note that high season rate is different to low season rate).
