Gorilla Heights Lodge
Gorilla heights lodge is a luxury accommodation (5-star hotel) found in Nkuringo in Bwindi impenetrable national park. The lodge stands on the 12 acres of land and it’s near the trekking trail. One can be at the lodge by road transport or air transport using Aerolink. It takes approximately 11-12 hour drive from Kampala to the lodge and its about 2-3 hours drive from Kigali to the lodge. It takes an hour to fly from Entebbe to Kisoro airstrip. The lodge is convenient and affordable for luxury guests visiting the park.
Gorilla heights lodge consists of 15 elegant cottages i.e. 5 deluxe, 9 standard rooms and 1 family room (silverback) built in modern style with modern comfort; Rooms are well furnished and decorated with private en suite facilities like; flushing toilets, hot and cold shower rooms/bathtubs, Mosquitoes nets, warmers, chair, drier, TVs, etc. Each room has sitting areas, wooden private balconies, you relax while enjoying the stunning breathtaking view of the forest canopy and Virunga mountains. The lodge has excellent and comfortable clean beddings. The rooms cost 1000$ per person per night and above.
Gorilla heights lodge offers different facilities and services which include Virunga terrace restaurant that serves different meals both continental and African–inspired that meets guests’ choice, you enjoy the meal while overlooking virunga mountains. They serve three-course meals served by well trained, friendly and organized staff, well-stocked bar with both soft and hard drinks, A blue water swimming pool with a good view of the park, health and fitness centers available like ; spa, sauna, massage etc, a business center like; meetings, honeymoon package etc, the lodge offers pick-ups and drop-offs from the airstrip, Ample parking space, Laundry services available at the lodge, Wifi available at the lodge enabling guests to be in touch with their families and friends.
Bwindi Forest Impenetrable national park is the best and most visited national park in the south western part of Uganda in Kanungu district. The park is the home of more endangered mountain gorillas over 19 gorilla groups in the park. The park occupies a total area of 330.8 square kilometers. There are more than 600 mountain gorillas in Bwindi national park of which 19 gorilla families are habituated. The park consists of different 4 sectors namely; Nkuringo sector, Rushaga Sector , Buhoma sector and Ruhijha sectors where gorilla trekking takes place. The lodge is found in the Nkuringo Sector which is the home of three gorilla families namely, Nkuringo, bushaho and Christmas. Nyakagezi can also be tracked while staying in Nkuringo location . Nkuringo is the best and most visited sector with a beautiful view of the forest canopy and virunga mountains compared to other sectors. A gorilla permit in bwindi is at 600$ but it will be at 700$ in 2020 July.
There are more than seven hundred and eighty-six mountain gorillas in the whole world. Uganda holds close to half of their total population, and the majority of them live in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, whereas the others are found in Mgahinga National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable national park has different accommodations in all sectors; Budget, Mid-range, and luxury accommodation. The best place to visit Bwindi impenetrable national park is Feb, March, June, July, September, October and December. There are many activities to do while in the park include; Gorilla trekking experience, gorilla habituation experience, Batwa trail, cultural experience (traditional dances) bird watching, nature, and forest walk, community tours in bwindi forest, Visiting lake bunyonyi and lake mutanda, golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga national park and many other activities.
