Lake Kivu is the largest of Rwanda’s freshwater lakes and 15th deepest lake in the world. The lake occupies 2,700 square km, and lies at 4,790 feet( 1,460mile ) above the sea level. The lake flows southwards in Lake Tanganyika and it lies in the albertline rift ( western branch of the east African rift) on the border of DRC and Rwanda.
