Magashi Camp – Akagera National Park
Magashi camp is a new luxury accommodation (4 stars) situated in the northeastern corner of Akagera National park overlooking lake Rwanyakazinga. The lodge has its own kind of setting in its own private concession area in Rwanda. You can either be at the hotel by road transport from Kigali international airport or by air transport as your flying from international countries like Canada, the USA, Dubai, Qatar to Kigali. It takes two and a half hour’s drive from Kigali to Akagera national park. The camp is found in the wilderness and it was constructed on the raised landscape. A large pride of lions can be spotted on the daily game drive in the park through sanctuary making magashi camp best and perfect place to stay in.
Magashi camp contains seven spacious and comfortable tents built in architectural styles of traditional Rwandan culture with open plan lounge and dining area that are well decorated and furnished. All tents have sitting areas, verandas and wooden balconies that gives a fantastic view of lake Rwanyakazinga. All tents have private en- suite facilities like flushing toilets, hot and cold outdoor showers , Mosquito nets, dries TV’s, satellite and other facilities. Tents have excellent and comfortable queen and clean beddings. There are fire bones at the lodge that provides warmth to the visitors staying at the lodge . Rooms vary in different categories; single, double, twin, triple all costing 500$ and above per person per night.

Akagera national park is found in the eastern part of Rwanda country close the border with Tanzania. Though Rwanda has a different national park (Nyungwe National Park and Volcanoes national park), Akagera is among the best and most visited park in Rwanda. The park occupies the total area of 1,122km squared. The park is characterized by woodlands, swamps, savannah and low mountains. Akagera national park is the home of various wildlife with over 20 mammal species which include; Buffaloes, Elephants, over 15 number of Lions in the park, Zebras, Impalas, antelopes, Giraffes, Hynes, Leopards, hippo, Crocodiles, etc and over 480 bird species which include; fish eagles, Cattle Egret, Hamerkop, Sacred and Hadada Ibis, Augur Buzzard, Long-crested Eagle, and Pied Crow, Black-headed and Viellot’s Black Weavers, Grey-backed Fiscals, Fan-tailed Widowbird and Caruther’s Cisticola. It is 50$ per person to enter the park. Akagera national park has different accommodations namely; Budget , Mid range and luxury accommodation which are best and affordable to the guests visiting the park.
