Oliver’s Tented Camp

Oliver’s Tented Camp is a  luxury accommodation (4 stars) found in the Northern part of Tanzania in Tarangire national park. The camp  is inside  the park close to kuro airstrip just 25km.  One can be at the camp  by road  transport  from  Arusha city, which takes approximately a 2-3 hour drive (180km)  to the park and  air transport from Arusha to Kuro airstrip, which takes about 30 minutes to fly  to Kuro airstrip and then  45 minutes  drive from the airstrip to the camp .

The camp is affordable and convenient for visitors to the park, offering panoramic views of the waterhole, the park, wildlife—especially elephants—and the surrounding area.   The camp is part of luxury camps and safaris that offer the best accommodations in Tanzania and Kenya.

Oliver’s tented camp consists of eight elegant and comfortable raised tents built in traditional African style, featuring grass-thatched roofs and local woods while providing modern comfort.  The tents are well decorated, elevated, and furnished with private en suite facilities, including flushing toilets, hot and cold showers or bathtubs, mosquito nets, towel trolleys, hair dryers, and private balconies, verandas, and sitting areas. You can relax while enjoying the stunning view of the baobab tree and the concentration of elephants visiting the lodge and surrounding area.  

Tents are well equipped with satellites, flat-screen TVs, extinguishers, and comfortable, clean bedding containing queen beds and ceiling fans.  There are campfires at the camp that provide warmth to visitors during the night.   Rooms are available in different categories: single, double, twin, and triple/family rooms, with prices starting at $200 per night and above. Note that in the high season, the rate goes slightly higher than in the low season.

Oliver’s tented camp  offers more services and facilities, which include;  A restaurant that serves different meals, both international and African-inspired, that meet guests’ choices: breakfast in the bush, lunch, and dinner in the main building facing the waterhole, served by well-trained, friendly, and organized staff. They also serve bush dinners. A well  stocked  bar/lounge with  variety of drinks , local ,cocktail  , wines, spirits and international beers, you relax in water and sip the cocktail or monk tail  while overlooking  the spectacular view of  the camp,  wildlife visiting the camp especially  elephant  and   the surrounding area ,  Free parking space available,  camping at the camp available, and it offers airport pick-ups and drop-offs,  Laundry services available, and WIFI available at the lodge that enables visitors to keep in touch with their families and friends,  Business centers  with conference halls, meeting places  ,honey moon package etc.  The hotel features healthy and fitness centers with spa massage and steam bath, offers hot air ballooning, provides excellent and comfortable clean bedding, and has a craft shop with more African-style gifts like shoes, safari essentials, and safari books, among others.

Tarangire national park is considered to be the sixth largest park in Tanzania, a country found southeast of Lake Manyara national park in the Northern part of Tanzania. The name of the park comes from the Tarangire River, which crosses the park and is the only source of fresh water for animals in the Tarangire ecosystem. It occupies the total area of 2,850 km² and is 150 km from Arusha.

The park is small with twenty-six mammals and is famous for its large herd of big five animals like; Buffaloes , elephants, zebras, wildebeest, Rhinos  Impalas ,antelopes, mention but a few, and 500 bird species like yellow-necked, helmeted, barbet, starling, swift, stripped swallows, etc.

The park offers different categories of accommodation, including budget, mid-range, and luxury options that are convenient and affordable for guests and visitors to Tarangire National Park.  

There are more different  activities to do while in the Park which include;  Game viewing, you spot different animals in the park   , Visiting Tarangire River , Cultural visits in the local village,  Camping , Bird watching/Birding since the park has more bird species ,Boat trip at Tarangire river , sight  seeing trips , hot air balloon riding etc.  It’s $60 to enter the park.

Dry season is the best period to visit  tarangire national park as animals are migrating in June-September, hence giving a chance to see some of the animals.
