Uganda gorilla trekking prices

Uganda gorilla trekking prices : Gorilla trekking is the most popular and interesting activity where visitors move into the tropical rain forest in search of the endangered mountain gorillas and once found spend one hour with them in their natural habitat. Gorilla trekking in Uganda is carried out in two destinations that is Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park. Gorilla trekking is also done in other African destinations namely Volcanoes national park in Rwanda, Virunga national park and Kahuzi Biega national park in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is located in southwestern Uganda in Kanungu district and harbors over 400 mountain gorillas which are half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Bwindi forest national park is a home of about 19 habituated gorilla families which are found in four sectors namely Rushaga sector, Ruhija sector, Nkuringo sector and Buhoma sector. Bwindi impenetrable national park also offers gorilla habituation experience a process where mountain gorillas are trained to get used to the human presence. Gorilla habituation experience is different from gorilla trekking in that visitors who engage in gorilla habituation will spend four hours with the gorillas under habituation compared to gorilla trekking where visitors only spend one hour with the gorillas.

Gorilla trekking in Uganda is also done in Mgahinga gorilla national park which found in southwestern Uganda in Kisoro district. The national park is a home of two habituated gorilla families namely Nyakagezi and Hirwa family.

Gorilla trekking in both destinations allows a maximum of 8 people to trek each habituated gorilla family and starts in the morning with a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations. Trekking takes about 2 to 7 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family and once the gorillas have been found you will be allowed to be in the presence of the mountain gorillas taking photos, recording the moments, learning more about their habits, behaviors among others.
