Detailed itinerary
Day 1 of the 5 days Lake Mburo wildlife safari
Pick up and transfer to a hotel in Kampala, upon arrival at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the 5 days Lake Mburo wildlife safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then transfer to a hotel in Kampala. In case you had a morning flight you will go for a city tour in Kampala where visit the Uganda museum where you will know about the history of Uganda, visit Owino market where you will interact with the local traders, visit craft centre’s among others. After the city tour you will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park
On the second day of the 5 days Lake Mburo wildlife safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel to transfer to Lake Mburo national park in western Uganda. The journey takes about 4 hours drive and on the way you will have a stopover at the Equator to buy souvenirs, take photos and then proceed to Lake Mburo national park. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge and have lunch.
Boat cruise, after lunch you will go for an exciting boat cruise where you will paddle along the lake shores with spectacular views of hippos and crocodiles in water, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, antelopes drinking water along the shores, have views of the beautiful scenery, water birds like fish eagles, kingfishers, cormorants, the rare shoebill stork, bee-eaters, pelicans, herons among others, view fishermen fishing among others. After the launch cruise you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Morning game drive and nature walk
Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on the third day of the 5 days Lake Mburo wildlife safari you will meet up with your driver-guide to go for a morning game drive where you will follow different tracks that will offer you great views of the sunrise, animals like buffaloes, warthogs, zebras, impala, elands, topi, bushbucks among others grazing in the open savannah plains, view predators like leopards and hyenas if you are lucky, view different bird species like yellow warbler, Abyssinian ground hornbill, white wings warbler, saddle-billed stork, grey crowned crane among others. After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
Nature walk, after lunch you will go for an exciting nature walk where you will be able to explore the park on foot with the company of an armed park ranger to protect you from dangerous animals. During the nature walk which takes about 2 hours you will follow different trails such as the trail to the salt lick where you will view animals that come to lick salt, trails to Kazuma hill where you will have panoramic views of the savannah plains, acacia vegetation, several lakes and trails to Rubanga forest where you will be able to spot different bird species. After the guided nature walk you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Horse riding and cultural tour
Horse riding, after breakfast on the fourth day of the 5 days Lake Mburo wildlife safari your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for horse riding which is one of the best activities in the park where you will be able to explore the park while on the back of the horse. During the horse ride you will be able to view animals like zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, elands, impalas in the open plains, view leopards if you are lucky on the horseback. After the horse ride, you will return to the park for lunch.
Cultural tour, after lunch you will go for a fascinating activity where you will get an opportunity to interact with the local people in the communities neighboring the park. During the cultural tour you will visit the Banyankole and Bahima people where you will be able to learn about their culture, tradition, visit their traditional homesteads, banana plantations, learn how to cook traditional meals, witness how to milk, enjoy traditional entertainments among others.
Day 5: Morning game drive and departure to Kampala
Morning game drive, on the last day of the 5 days Lake Mburo wildlife safari you will go for another game drive where you will be able to view animals that you might have missed during the previous game drive. After the game drive you will drive out of the park and start the journey to Kampala with en-route lunch at the equator. After lunch you will continue the journey to Kampala where your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe airport for your departure flight or drop off at your place of advice.
