Detailed itinerary

Day 1 of the 7 days Queen Elizabeth, Kibale chimpanzee and Bwindi gorilla safari

Arrival and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park, upon arrival at Entebbe international airport on day 1 of the 7 days Queen Elizabeth, Kibale chimpanzee and Bwindi gorilla safari you will be welcomed by representative who will brief you about this Uganda safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park in south western Uganda. The journey takes about 8 hours drive and on the way you will have a stopover at the equator to buy souvenirs, take picture and another stopover at Igongo cultural centre for lunch. After lunch you will continue the journey passing via Mbarara, Ntungamo, and Kabale with spectacular views of farmlands, rolling hills, traditional homesteads among others. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

Gorilla trekking, on day 2 of the 7 days Queen Elizabeth, Kibale chimpanzee and Bwindi gorilla safari you will have an early breakfast, carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with trekking trails in the jungle. Trekking of the mountain gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable national park starts at around 8:00am and takes about 30 minutes to 8 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.

During trekking you will have great views of other wildlife species like red tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, view forest elephants and buffaloes, different bird species, plant and tree species among others. Once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with the habituated gorilla family where you will be able to learn about their behaviors, habits, watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, take great pictures and record the moments to show people back home. After the unforgettable moment with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer from Bwindi impenetrable national park to Queen Elizabeth national park

After breakfast on day 3 of the 7 days Queen Elizabeth, Kibale chimpanzee and Bwindi gorilla safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda after Murchison falls national park. the journey takes about 5 hours drive and on the way you will have a stopover at Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park which is famously known for harboring the tree climbing lions which will be seen lying up in fig/acacia tree branches during the game drive. You will also be able to view other animals like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, some bird species among others. After the game drive in Ishasha sector you will have en-route lunch and thereafter proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will go for an evening game drive with views of animals like warthogs, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, elephants, bushbucks, views of the sundowner among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge, check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive/lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise

Morning game drive, after an early breakfast on day 4 of the 7 days Queen Elizabeth, Kibale chimpanzee and Bwindi gorilla safari you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive/lion tracking experience which starts at around 6:30 am because that’s the best time to view animals when they are most active. Game drives in Queen Elizabeth national park are commonly done in Kasenyi plains due to the fact that the plains harbor abundant wildlife species including elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs, Uganda kobs, giant forest hogs, topi, bushbucks among others which will be seen grazing in savannah grassland plains with due, vie predators like lions, leopards, hyenas before going back to their hiding areas, view some bird species like African white backed vulture, martial eagle, black bellied bustard, grey capped warbler, grey backed fiscal, palm-nut vulture  among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for lunch.

Boat cruise, after lunch you will drive to the landing site near Mweya safari lodge for a scheduled launch cruise on Kazinga channel which starts at around 2:00pm. During the exciting boat cruise you will cruise meters away from large concentrations of hippos in water, crocodiles basking on the water banks, view animals like buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, lions along the shores, water birds like malachite and pied kingfisher, pink backed pelican, saddle billed stork, herons, cormorants, fish eagles among others, view fishermen preparing their fishing gears for night fishing, take stunning pictures of the beautiful scenery among others. After the boat ride you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer to Kibale national park

Morning game drive, after breakfast on day 5 of the 7 days Queen Elizabeth, Kibale chimpanzee and Bwindi gorilla safari you will go for another game drive in the park where you will be able to spot some of the wildlife species that you might have missed during the previous game drives. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Transfer to Kibale national park, after lunch you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kibale national park which takes about 4 hours drive. On the way you will pass through Fort Portal and have great views of tea plantations, crater lakes, view primate species among others. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on day 6 of the 7 days Queen Elizabeth, Kibale chimpanzee and Bwindi gorilla safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a habituated chimpanzee family to trek, a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the forest and then start trekking in the jungle which starts at around 8:00am. Trekking of chimpanzees takes 30 minutes to 4 hours or even longer depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one area to another in search of food. During trekking you will have incredible views of other primates like red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, view different plants, bird species among others and once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to watch them feed, play, hunt, fight, breastfeed, mate, learn more about their habits, behaviors, ask various Questions, take photos and record the beautiful moments to show people back home. After the one hour with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Bigodi swamp walk, after lunch you will relax and the lodge and prepare for an afternoon swamp walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary where you will have spectacular views of different bird species like the great blue turaco, hornbills, weavers,  view primate species like blue monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, baboons,  view different plant species, colorful butterflies, if you are lucky you can also spot some mammals like bush pigs, bushbucks, mongoose among others. After the swamp walk you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Departure to Kampala

After a relaxed breakfast on day 7 of the days Queen Elizabeth, Kibale chimpanzee and Bwindi gorilla safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala. On the way you will have en-route lunch and great views of beautiful scenery, tea and banana plantations, local villages, farmlands among others. Upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
