This 8 days Uganda safari is an extraordinary adventure that will take you to different national parks in Uganda including Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will be able to view the endangered mountain gorillas, Kibale national park which harbors abundant primate species like the chimpanzees, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, grey checked magabey among others.  The safari will also take you to Murchison falls national park which is the largest and one of the most visited national parks in Uganda. Murchison falls national park harbors wildlife species including the big four mammals which are the elephants, lions, leopards and buffaloes.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1 of the 8 days Uganda safari

Transfer to Kampala, depending on the arrival time on day 1 of the 8 days Uganda safari you will be welcomed by our driver guide at Entebbe international airport who will later brief you about your safari and then transfer you to a hotel in Kampala. Upon arrival at the hotel you will relax, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

On day 2 of the 8 days Uganda safari you will have an early breakfast, check out of the lodge and your driver guide will pick you up to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is located in southwestern Uganda. The national park is famously visited due to the fact that it harbors the endangered mountain gorillas which are the most visited attractions in Africa. It a whole day journey which takes about 8 to 9 hours drive and offers great views of beautiful scenery, landscape, Kigezi hills, among others. On your way you will have a stopover at the equator for photos and then continue the journey with en-route lunch at Igongo cultural center. After lunch you will proceed with the journey through Kabale and upon arrival you will continue to the lodge check in, have dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on day 3 of the 8 days Uganda safari you will carry packed lunch, meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of gorilla trekking. Bwindi impenetrable national park harbors the highest number of habituated gorilla families in Africa and trekking of the mountain gorillas only allows a maximum of 8 people to trek each habituated gorilla family therefore after the briefing you will be grouped and allocated a park guide who is well conversant with the trails in the forest and a gorilla family to trek. Grouping of individuals is however done according to age, personal preferences, physical fitness among others therefore if you are not physically fit you are advised to communicate with your guide so that they allocate you a gorilla family that is near to trek.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park starts at around 8:00am and takes 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of the gorillas and once they are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas in their natural environment. During the one hour you will be able to watch the gorillas carry out their daily activities, learn about their habits, behaviors, take photos, record videos among others. After the one hour encounter with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking, meet up with your driver guide and transfer back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale national park

On day 4 of the 8 days Uganda safari you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kibale national park which is also known as the primate capital. you will pass via Ishasha sector which is located in southern part of  Queen Elizabeth national park and its famously known for the tree climbing lions which will be viewed lying up in the acacia, fig tree branches during the game drive. It’s believed that the lions in Ishasha sector climb trees to escape ground heat run away from biting insects like tsetse flies and to have a clear view of the antelopes. After the game drive in Ishasha sector, you will have en-route lunch and then continue the journey via Fort Portal and then Kibale national park. The journey takes about 6 to 7 hours’ drive and upon arrival you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on day 5 of the 8 days Uganda safari you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be grouped, allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with the trails in the forest. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend one hour with them in their natural habitat learning more about their life style, behaviors, watching them feed, breastfeed, jump from one tree to another, take photos and record videos to show people back home. After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters meet up with your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for lunch.

Bigodi swamp walk, after lunch you will go for a nature walk in Bigodi swamp where you will have great views of colorful bird species like the great blue turaco, papyrus gonolek, hornbills, primates like the black and white colobus monkey, blue monkeys, red tailed monkey, plant species, butterflies, enjoy the cool breeze, breath fresh air, listen to the sweet sounds of birds and also interact with the local people to know more about their lifestyle, culture among others. After the nature walk, you will meet up with your driver guide and drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Murchison fall national park

You will have an early breakfast on day 6 of the 8 days Uganda safari, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Murchison falls national park which is located in north western Uganda. You will have en-route lunch on the way and spectacular views of the Rwenzori mountains, landscape, homesteads, tea plantations among others therefore you will have stopovers to take photos and stretch your legs. Upon arrival you will continue to the lodge check in, have dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Game drive and boat cruise

Game drive, you will have breakfast on day 7 of the 8 days Uganda safari, meet up with your driver guide and go for a morning game drive which starts at around 7:00am. During the game drive you will follow various tracks like Buligi game track which offer great views of wildlife species including birds and animals such as the elephants, buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeest, lions, leopards, giraffes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Boat cruise, after lunch you will go for a thrilling boat ride on River Nile. The scheduled boat cruise starts at around 2:00pm and takes about 2 hours. During the boat cruise you will get an opportunity of viewing water animals like hippos, crocodiles in water, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes on the water shores, water birds like the kingfishers, cormorants, fish eagles among others. The boat continues to the bottom of the falls where you will either return back to starting point or opt for a hike to the top of the falls. Hiking to the top of the falls takes about 45 minutes to reach the top where you will meet your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Departure to Kampala

You will have a relaxed breakfast on day 8 of the 8 days Uganda safari, meet up with your driver guide and go for a short game drive in the park. During the game drive you will have an opportunity of viewing different animals which you might have missed during the previous game drive. After the game drive you will drive out of the park and start the journey to Kampala with en-route lunch. You will reach Kampala early evening and your driver guide will drop you off at any place of convenience or at the airport for your next flight.
