Description of the Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National park
- Transfer to Kibale forest National park: First day of 5 days Uganda primate safari, (chimpanzees and gorilla trekking), you will be picked by the guide/company representative either from Entebbe international airport/ or any place of your location early morning and set off to Kibale national park the best safari destination in Africa for chimpanzee tracking which takes about 5-6 hours on road with en route lunch in fort portal town , once your done with lunch , visit the crater lakes and amabere caves , then after proceed to your lodge in Kibale for dinner and over night stay at Kyaninga lodge(luxury) Chimpanzee guest house lodge( mid range) and Isunga lodge (budget).
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland visit ;
- Chimpanzee trekking: Second day of 5 days Uganda primate safari ,(chimpanzees and gorilla trekking), you will wake up very early for a morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters where you will meet with other trekkers ready for a chimpanzee trekking briefing . The briefing is basically based on what to do and what not to do while on a chimpanzee trekking expedition in the forest. The expectations during the trek and many more. Once the briefing is done, hire your porter and follow the group to start trekking chimpanzees. This will last between 2- 6 hours.
- After tracking, you will return to the lodge for lunch and go for nature walks in the bigodi swamps and look for water-loving bird species since the forest has over 335 bird species therefore it’s a good place for birders then after return back to your lodge for relaxation and overnight stay at the lodge above.
- Meal plan; lunch and dinner.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park;
- Transfer to Bwindi: On the third day of the 5 days Uganda primates safaris , you will have a morning breakfast then be transferred to bwindi impenetrable national park through ishasha sector with in queen Elizabeth national park and get an opportunity to view tree climbing lions ; Arrive bwindi late evening and check in your lodge in buhoma sector for dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma lodge(luxury), Buhoma haven lodge(mid range) , Buhoma community rest camp (budget ).
Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience
- Gorilla trekking on the 4th day of the 5 days primates safaris : This day is so crucial in every primate lover’s life. You will wake up very early at around 6:30 am, have breakfast and pack your lunch with drinking water then meet your guide/ drive to drive you to the park offices where a briefing about gorilla trekking is managed. During the briefing, you are free to ask where you haven’t understood and once the briefing is done, you will be allocated a particular gorilla family to trek within a group of maximum 8 people . you can hire a porter to assist you during the trek. During gorilla trekking try to follow all the guidelines as told during briefing and also try to follow whatever the tour guide and the ranger tells you to do. After landing on a habituated mountain gorilla family, you will be allowed to spend a maximum of one hour taking photographs, and watching the gorillas as they perform their daily duties of breast feeding, copulating, feeding, nesting among others. After trekking, you will be transferred back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at the above lodge;

Day 5: Return to Kampala /ENTEBBE
- Return to Kampala – Entebbe: this being your last day of the 5 days Uganda primate safari (chimpanzee and gorilla trekking), you will wake up on a cup of tea. Depending of your flight time and keeping in mind that the journey from bwindi to Kampala is about 8-9 hours’ drive, you will check out of the lodge and start the journey back to Kampala while viewing the beautiful hills of Kabale, the flatlands in Ntungamo and Mbarara while encountering several locals along the way. Have an enroute lunch in Mbarara at Igongo cultural center and another stop at the equator if time allows. Then drive direct o Kampala or connect to Entebbe depending on the advisable drop-off place.
