3 Days Mount Nyiragongo Hike
The 3 days Mount Nyiragongo Hike is an adventurous safari that will start and end in Kigali. The safari will begin with a city tour in Kigali and later connect to Democratic Republic of Congo to climb Nyiragongo volcano which is the world’s most active volcano with a lava lake on top. Nyiragongo volcano has erupted about 34 times and the last time it erupted was in 2002.

Day 1 of the 3 days Mount Nyiragongo Hike
Arrival and transfer to Virunga national park, upon arrival at Kigali international airport on the first day of the 3 days Mount Nyiragong Hike you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then transfer to Kigali for a city tour. Kigali is one of the cleanest and attractive cities in Africa and during the city tour you will visit Kigali genocide memorial centre, Kimironko market which is the biggest market in Rwanda, Inema art center among others. After the city tour you will go for lunch in one of the restaurants and then start the journey to Virunga national park which is one of the oldest national parks in Africa located in Eastern part of Democratic Republic of Congo. On your way you will have great views of the rolling hills in Rwanda, terraced farmlands, landscape, Lake Kivu among others and pass via Goma Grande barrier border. From Goma you will connect to a lodge in Virunga national park for an evening relaxation dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Ascend Nyiragongo Volcano
Ascend Nyiragongo volcano, on the second day of the 3 days Mount Nyiragongo Hike you will have an early breakfast after, carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the starting point at Kibat patrol post for a briefing about the expectations, stopping points, rules and regulations, what to carry among others. After the briefing you will be put in a group together with cooks and then start hiking which takes about 4 to 6 hours to reach the summit depending on the physical fitness of the group. During hiking you will pass through lower altitude areas, lava rocks, slippery stones in higher altitudes, steep and cold altitudes, rain forests among others where you will have views of the bird species, primates, mammals, plant species, beautiful landscape, among others. When you reach on top of the volcano you will have great views of the boiling lava lake and the cooks will help you to prepare hot coffee and dinner. You will spend an overnight in a cabin as you smell the boiling and bubbling lava
Day 3: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano
Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano, after an ultimate breakfast on the last day of the 3 days Mount Nyiragongo Hike you will begin descending from the peak of the mountain which takes about 3 hours to reach the starting point at Kibat patrol post. When descending down you will you pass through steep and sharp rocks, have scenic views of Virunga national park, Lake Kivu, Rwenzori Mountains, bird species, mammals among others and upon arrival at the base you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for lunch.
Departure to Kigali, after lunch you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kigali. You will pass via Goma Grande Barrier border to Kigali international airport where your driver guide will drop you off for your next flight.
