Entrance Fees of Murchison Falls National Park 2021

Entrance fees of Murchison falls national park 2021 are the charges paid by tourists in order to access the park and participate in different activities. Murchison falls national park is the largest and one of the oldest national parks located in northwestern Uganda. The park is divided into two sectors by Victoria Nile the northern sector and the southern sector which harbor a wide range of attractions including vegetation types like savannah grassland, woodland and Riverine forest, animals like the big four mammals which are the elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, other animals like Uganda kobs, waterbucks, giraffes, hippos, bushbucks, primates like chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, baboons, different bird species like the rare shoebill stork among others.

Murchison falls national park offers interesting activities such as game drives, boat cruise to the bottom of the falls and Nile delta, sport fishing, bird watching, guided nature walks, hot air balloon safari and chimpanzee trekking in Kaniyo Pabidi Forest. Entrance fees of Murchison falls national park 2021 are charged by Uganda Wildlife Authority a government body that is in charge of tourism in Uganda and the fees are used to run projects in the park and its development.

Note: Entrance fees of Murchison falls national park 2021 are independent of package activities  and all visitors will be required to present valid identification documents to confirm resident status. A day’s entrance ticket is valid for 24 hours from the time of entrance and extra time spent in the park after 24 hours will be charged as an extra day. Children are persons aged between 5- 15 years and persons below 5 years are exempt. 

Park entrance fees

• Adults

A foreign nonresident adult is charged USD 40 per person, USD 30 for a foreign resident and UGX 20,000 for an East African citizen.

• Children

A foreign nonresident child is charged USD 20 per person, USD 10 for a foreign resident and UGX 5,000 for an East African citizen.

Ugandan pupils or students are charged UGX 3,000 per student

Tertiary institutions/universities are charged UGX 5,000

Uganda wildlife clubs are charged UGX 2,000

Annual park entrance passes

• Individuals

A foreign resident is charged USD 350 and an East African citizen is charged UGX 150,000

• Couple

Foreign resident couples are charged USD 500 and East African citizen couples are charged UGX 200,000

• Family (maximum 4 children)

Foreign resident families are charged USD 700 and East African citizen families are charged UGX 300,000

• Annual corporate pass

Foreign residents are charged   USD 1,500 and East African citizens are charged UGX 2,500,000

East African safari guide is charged UGX 100,000

East African taxi driver is charged UGX 100,000

A tour company driver is allowed to access the park freely as long as he/she is from a recognized tour company.

• Launch cruise

Foreign non residents, foreign residents are charged USD 30 per person and East African citizens are charged UGX 30,000 per person

School group for East African citizens are charged UGX 10,000 per person

School group for East African citizens are charged UGX 350,000 per group

Launch cruise in Murchison falls national park takes a maximum of 45 people and the trips takes about 2 hours. Minimum boat charge of 4 foreign residents is USD 120 and UGX 120,000 for 4 Ugandans.

Guided game drives (private)

Only pre-registered vehicles will undertake night game drives in Murchison falls national park and the use of UWA guides is mandatory for night game drive.

Parking fees for boats per day is UGX 10,000

Aircrafts landing fees

• Glinders, Microlights for foreign residents are charged USD 10 and UGX 20,000 for East African citizens
• Up to 3 seater aircrafts for foreign residents are charged USD 20 and UGX 40,000 for East African citizens
• 4 to 6 seater aircrafts for foreign residents are charged USD 30 and UGX 60,000 for East African citizens
• 7 to 14 seater aircrafts for foreign residents are charged USD 40 and UGX 80,000 for East African citizens
• 15 to 20 seater aircrafts for foreign residents are charged USD 50 and UGX 100,000 for East African citizens
• 21 seater aircraft and above for foreign residents are charged USD 60 and UGX 120,000 for East African citizens
• helicopters for foreign residents are charged USD 100 per landing and East African citizens are charged UGX 250,000 per landing

Parking fees per day is UGX 10,000

Landing fees in Murchison falls national park exclude entry fees which are payable by passengers and pilots en-route do not pay entry fees if they spend less than 2 hours in the park.

• Medium vehicles 2 to 5 tonnes are charged UGX 40,000
• Heavy vehicles 5 to 10 tonnes are charged UGX 80,000
• Very heavy vehicles 10 to 20 tonnes are charged UGX 150,000
• Motor cycles are charged UGX 5,000
• Passengers are charged UGX 5,000
• Vehicle drivers and school bus with students cross for free

Ferry crossing prices are for scheduled crossing, one way for transit and they are valid till 7:00pm on the first day of use for those residents in the park. Vehicles in excess of 20 tonnes require special approval before crossing.
