Budongo Eco Lodge
Budongo Eco Lodge is a mid-range accommodation found in Budongo forest reserve with in the boundaries of Murchison falls national park in Uganda. Budongo forest is one of the largest reserves in Uganda and it’s the home of more than 600 chimpanzees, different rare species of primates (over 9 ) and over 360 bird species in the forest. The lodge is situated in the perfect position for chimpanzee tracking activity. Since the lodge is in Murchison falls national park it takes approximately 5 hours drive from Kampala via masindi by road while about an hour and a half to fly from Kampala to the close pakuba airstrip . The lodge is under Uganda lodges that offers unique accommodations across Uganda.
Budongo eco lodge is comprised of six spacious and comfortable eco log cabins with four dormitories that reflects African traditional building style of natural materials like local woods with modern comfort and maximum privacy in the forest . Each cabin room is well decorated and furnished with private en suite facilities like ; Flushing toilets , hot and cold showers , flat screen TV’s , satellite, solar energy available, chairs , tables , mosquito nets and many more while dormitories have outside showers . Rooms have private wooden balconies, verandas and sitting areas ,you relax while overlooking breathtaking views of the forest, primates visiting the lodge and surrounding area . All cabin rooms are well equipped with comfortable clean and washed beddings with wooden ceiling fans. There are bonfires at the lodge that provides warmth during the cold nights to visitors. Rooms are in different categories; single ,double ,twin and triple/family rooms and rooms cost 200$ per night and above , sometimes in High/peak season the rate goes slightly high than in Low season
Budongo eco-lodge offers more services and facilities which include; A restaurant that serves different meals both international and African- inspired meals that meets guests appetite ; Continental breakfast , picnic lunch and dinner in the dining room served by well trained, friendly and organized staff ,they also serve bush diners , A well stocked bar with variety of drinks , local ,cocktail , wines, spirits and international beers, you refresh yourself with the cocktail or monktail while overlooking the stunning view of the forest , primates vising the lodge especially and surrounding areas , small library available , Free parking space available, Laundry services available , WIFI available at the lodge in the main building that enables visitors to keep in touch with their families and friends, business center with meeting places and honeymoon package etc, airport pickups and drop offs , Excellent and comfortable clean beddings , Craft shop available at the lodge with more African style gifts like shoes, beads , guides book, clothes , safari essentials to mention but a few.
Budongo forest covers a total area of 825 square kilometers of which 430 square kilometers is a continuous forest and its on the north west of the city on the way to Murchison falls national park. Budongo forest is considered to be the largest forest in Uganda where chimpanzee tracking activity takes place. The chimpanzee permit is at 100$ non foreign residents tracking in budongo forest. Murchison falls national park is the largest, oldest and most visited park situated in the north eastern parts of Uganda in Amuru It was formally called Kabalega national park. The park stands on the shores of lake Albert home of scarce shoebills stork occupying the total area of 3,840Km squared .The park contains over 78 species of mammals including the Big five animals like; Rhinos, Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, antelopes, Impalas, zebras and over 450 bird species like ; water birds, savannah birds, Albertline endemic birds etc. The park has different accommodations like; Budget , mid range and luxury accommodation that are convenient and friendly to guests visiting the park. There are different activities to do while in the budongo forest include; Chimpanzee tracking and habituation are the most activities done since the forest have over 600 chimpanzees , birding/bird watching since the forest contains over 360 bird species , guided nature walks while other activities are done in Murchison park outside budongo forest like .; Game drive ,you spot different mammal species since the park has more animals, Boat cruise/Launch cruise along the Nile that gives the exciting panoramic view of the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls and enables guests to spot different aquatic animals like Hippos ,Crocodiles at the river banks , water birds etc , Hiking on the top of the falls, community visits to the local villages that encourages cultural experience mention but a few.
