This cave Amabera ga Nyinamwiru was named after Nyinamwiru who was the daughter of Bukuku, a very famous rich man and was also the King of the Batembuzi dynasty from which the current Tooro and Bunyoro kingdoms originated. Nyinamwiru is said to have been very pretty and also not willing to marry a man that her father chose for her and because she was such a disobedient girl, the punishment was cutting off her breasts and till today, locals believe that her breasts grew into rock dripping with milk. There is however another version of the story where she herself cut off her breasts but all these story are told in details to everyone that visit the cave.
To get to that cave, you go through the cool green moss and fern covered by trees and rocks therefore the place is really beautiful. Inside the cave, there a chamber that has lots of stalactites formed in shape of a woman’s breasts and the water dripping from them contains the deposited white calcite therefore takes on the color of breast milk. This liquid is what the locals call breast milk since its coming out of breast like features. But when you visit the cave, you will get a real educated guide who will tell the scientific background and of course also give you the legend as it is. These rocks (stalactites and stalagmites) keep growing in size since the mineralized solution keeps dripping out all year through until an arm touches the ground/ roof and makes a strong pillar but may later be broken down.
Inside the cave, the basement is dotted with water drops splashing as if it’s drizzling in there. An educated guide will walk you through and offer all the information you may need to know. In some cases, you may not be allowed to touch them because usually the stalagmite should not be touched with bare hands because the rocks are formed by minerals solidifying out of the water solution onto the old surface and this means lotions and skin oils can easily land where the mineral water will cling, thus affecting the growth of the formation. The Oils and dirt from the hands can disrupt the formation of these rocks and also change its color thus creating a completely different feature.
This is an amazing place to visit for those that love nature, the entrance to the cave is low and narrow and requires some stooping but most of is inside is big enough and so can walk upright except at some points where is very narrow which is why it is recommended to wear suitably clothes and also bring extra clothes to wear afterwards as you will definitely get dirt while inside there. You will check out that chamber that is said to have been the resting place of the Bachwezi dogs and the ceiling shows pits resembling dog paws. There is also a waterfall called that the locals call a natural Shower and it is there that the Bachwezi used to go to take showers. And the same way, all the visitors/ tourists both locals and foreigners are also allowed to take a shower from there if they wish to.

For accommodation facilities, there are lots of them around the region so that cannot stop you from visiting this beautiful spot. It is important to note that this is the only place in Uganda where you can find such caves, natural with stalagmites and stalactites thus the reason it was named among the top physical attractions in Kabarole District.
