Rushaga Gorilla Haven Lodge
Rushaga gorilla haven lodge is a new accommodation found in the southern part of Bwindi impenetrable national park in the Rushaga sector close to the trekking point. The lodge is near the Nyanamo trading center just 6 kilo meters in Kisoro. The lodge is situated in the unique area with a beautiful view of the virunga mountains, unending kigezi hills, and Bwindi impenetrable forest canopy. It takes approximately an 8-hour drive (540km) from kampala by road to Bwindi and One and a half hour flight from Entebbe International Airport to kisoro airstrip.
Rushaga gorilla haven lodge consists of 12 spacious and comfortable cottages that are built in modern style, well decorated and furnished, equipped with mosquito nets, satellites, driers, private en suite facilities like flushing toilets, hot and cold running showers. Rooms have terraces/ sitting areas with wooden balconies you relax while enjoying the fantastic view of the park from any angle and the canopy forest and virunga mountains. Rooms have excellent and clean Comfortable beddings, The lodge has fireplaces that provide warmth to the guests during the night, Rooms varies in Different categories; single, double, twin, triple and family cottages. Rooms cost 150$ and above per person per night and its always slightly high in peak season.
Rushaga gorilla haven lodge offers different services and facilities which include; A restaurant that serves different food types served by well trained and organized staff like; Breakfast in the room, Lunch, dinner both in and outdoor dinner, sometimes breakfast are served out /In the bush that enables guests to watch over the forest canopy, well-stocked bar with both hard and soft drinks, laundry services available at the lodge, WIFI available at the lodge that enables visitors/guests to keep in touch with their families and friends, Airport pick up and drop off services offered, stand by generator available, Ample parking space, business centers like meeting rooms, conference halls, etc , healthy and fitness center available like, Spa, GYM, saunas, Massage, steam bathe, etc, craft shop with African craft gifts like; shoes, clothes, safari essentials, etc.
Bwindi Impenetrable national park is the most visited national park in the south western park of Uganda in Kanungu district. The park has more endangered mountain gorillas almost 19 gorilla groups in the park. The park occupies a total area of 330.8 square kilometers. There are more than 600 mountain gorillas in Bwindi national park of which 19 gorilla families are habituated. The park consists of different 5 sectors namely; Nkuringo sector, Rushaga Sector, Buhoma sector and Ruhijha sectors where gorilla trekking takes place. The lodge is found in the Rushaga Sector which is the home of five gorilla families namely; Mishaya, Kahungye, Nshongi, Bweza, and Busingye. Nkuringo and Nyakagezi can also be tracked while staying in Rushaga location. Rushaga sector is the most visited sector with many gorillas compared to other sectors thus making up Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Gorilla permit in bwindi is at 600$ but it will be at 700$ in 2020 July. There are more than seven hundred and 86 mountain gorillas in the whole world. Uganda holds close to half of their total population, and the majority of them live in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, whereas the others are found in Mgahinga National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable national park has different accommodations in all sectors; Budget, Mid-range, and luxury accommodation. The best place to visit Bwindi impenetrable national park is Feb, March, June, July, September, October and December. There are many activities to do while in the park include; Gorilla trekking experience, gorilla habituation experience, Batwa trail, cultural experience (traditional dances), bird watching, nature, and forest walk, community tours in bwindi forest, Visiting lake bunyonyi and lake mutanda, golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga national park and many other activities.
