Tchegera Island Tented Camp
Tchegera Island Tented Camp is a mid-range accommodation in Congo found in northern shores of Lake Kivu that is shared between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The camp sits in the middle of Lake Kivu. You can either be at the camp by either road or water transport. It takes just a 15 minutes boat ride from the harbor of Goma to the camp. It is among the best camps but the least known and greatest place to relax and escape the hustles of the city. The camp gives a fantastic view of the lake and the four volcanoes.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is found in central Africa. Kinshasha is the capital city of Congo. It’s just 40km (25 miles) coastline of the Atlantic ocean and congo is a landlocked country as well. Congo has different national parks found in central Africa like Virunga national park and Kahuzi Biega National Park are the most popular national parks in congo with more attractions that attract more tourists in the country. Virunga national park is found on the Eastern side of the Albertine valley in Rumangabo, Democratic Republic of Congo with more endangered mountain gorillas in Volcanoes where gorilla trekking takes place. There are eight mountain gorilla groups in Virunga Park and they are all habituated. Also, Kahuzi biega national park is found in the Eastern part near Bukavu with more low land gorillas. There are more activities to do while in Virunga national park which includes Gorilla trekking, Bird watching, nature walks, Hiking mount Nyiragongo, Nyamulagira, etc.
Congo has more than 200 tribes and 4 are the main largest tribes which include Mongo, Luba, Kongo, and Mang-betu Azonde. The majority of the Congolese speak the same language Kikongo, Lingala, Swahili, and French. There are more activities to do while in Virunga National Park which includes Gorilla trekking, Bird watching nature walk in the park, Hiking mount Nyiragongo,
Tchegera island Tented Camp consists of eight beautiful safari styled tents. All rooms have private suite facilities like flushing toilets and hot running showers. Rooms have verandas where you can relax after trekking while overlooking the beautiful view of the lake and four Volcanoes. The camp has spacious dining rooms, excellent clean and washed beddings. They are in different categories single, double, twins and triple rooms. Some rooms have campfires that provides warmth to clients during nights. Rooms cost 216$ and above per night.
The Camp has Different facilities and services which include a restaurant that serves delicious types of meals both local and international that meet the guests’ choice. All meals are served in the main mess tent including Breakfast, lunch, dinners both indoor and outdoor dinners, and a well-stocked bar with both soft and hard drinks and you relax and sip the cocktail while enjoying the good view of the lake and four volcanoes. the camp offers a laundry service, solar energy available, Camping in Goma, Wifi internet available at the camp that enables guests to keep in contact with their families and friends.
