Uganda Wildlife safaris are under threat from many different kinds of human activities, from directly destroying habitat to spreading invasive species and disease. Most ecosystems are facing multiple threats. Each new threat puts additional stress on already weakened ecosystems and their wildlife.
the biggest threats to wildlife mostly mountain gorillas that are considered to be large and fearless apes, the survival of these unique primate species is under threat due to a number of reasons as shall be discussed in this.
MAIN THREATS TO WILDLIFE `
- Poaching: Poaching has turned out to be the biggest threat to the survival of wildlife in all the areas where these lovely creatures stay. This activity is all due to the economic increase of demand in the countries; unemployment and poverty being the major factors. Findings have come to the evidence that most of the criminals who have been arrested for poaching are unemployed and poor. In quest to make quick and easy money, they resort to killing gorillas plus other animals and sell their meat and other body parts to the highest bidder on the black market.
Poaching is also pushed by the high demand for their bush meat, in these countries, families that are able to consume such bush meat are considered to be wealthy and of a higher social ranking in society.

Some tribes find pride in pouching and even push it further that when a parent is aged he will have to pass it on to his children and that this a grade of respect according to the culture and hence this has become a huge effect on the wildlife in different localities.
- Habitat Loss: more people are encroaching on forests for settlement, farming, and animal rearing. Plus there is large-scale deforestation that is taking place in forests as more trees are being cut down for charcoal burning and firewood. And with no afforestation and all this has caused the habitants of most wildlife’s to be scattered from their homes and this is truly causing harm to the wildlife.
- Civil Wars: civil wars have as well contributed to the scattering of Uganda wildlife in different localities and countries and all these have come due to the un wanting of peace and unity, just a few months back in the democratic republic of Congo a gorilla was spotted killed due to wars and leaving factors constant others who are on run kill these creatures for food.
- Disease: The fact that some of these animals especially mountain gorillas share about 98% of their DNA with humans this means they are likely to get the some problems of heath just like us, in birds flu/ influenza has also become a huge factor of threat , cough, pneumonia and even Ebola. tell all these diseases have honestly led to the decrease of wildlife in different countries
- Mercury Pollution: Mercury is one of the most harmful pollutants faced by fish and wildlife. Mercury is a naturally occurring, toxic heavy metal. However, human activity has significantly increased mercury levels in the environment over the past several centuries. Coal-fired power plants burn coal and release mercury into the atmosphere as a byproduct. And this byproduct gets into the some of the water bodies and hence affecting fish and other animals that habituate in water such as hippos, crocodiles and so on, unlike these sources, power plants haven’t had to limit their mercury pollution, which is as well affecting the vegetation of the earth
Besides these threats there are more threats to the wildlife family and some of these may seem minor but still all affect the rate at which these species are maintained.
