TWIGA SAFARI LODGE – MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK UGANDA
Twiga safari lodge is a new mid range accommodation (3.5 stars) located in Mubaako Paraa along the southern bank of the River Nile on the edge of the famous and largest Murchison falls national park in Uganda. The lodge is situated 5 minutes’ drive away from paraa ferry crossing which gives guests endless opportunities to enjoy the boat ride or hike the falls and explore other attraction in the park especially game viewing since the park has variety of wildlife including the big five, bird watching at albert Delta etc. You can be at the lodge by road transport from Kampala via Masindi to the park which takes approximately 5 hours’ drive (305KM) through Kichumbanyobo gate while an hour to fly from Entebbe international airport to close pakuba airstrip then few minutes to drive to the lodge.
Twiga safari lodge is comprised of 8 spacious and comfortable exclusive cottages in the serene and relaxing environment all with the view of the park and River Nile reflecting African traditional building style with grass thatched roof and local woods. Cottages are well decorated, elevated off the ground and furnished with private en suite facilities of clean Flushing toilets , hot and cold showers, solar energy available, wooden chairs and tables , mosquito nets , complementary bottled water, ironing service and many more . Rooms have sitting areas, terraces and wooden balconies overlooking the breathtaking views over Albert Nile, Murchison falls park and surrounding area. There is fireplace at the lodge where guests relax in the evenings as they enjoy the sunset and share experiences about the safaris not only that it provides warmth during cold evenings. Cottages are well equipped with comfortable clean and washed beddings queen sized bed. Rooms are in different categories and configured as single, double, twin , triple and family rooms with different cost ranging from 200$ per night and above and in High season the rate goes slightly high than in Low season.
Twiga safari lodge offers more services and facilities which include; A restaurant in the main building that serves different meals both continental and African- inspired meals that meets guests appetite ; Buffet breakfast facing the pool , picnic lunch and dinner in the dining room served by well trained, friendly and organized staff ,they also serve bush diners.
A well -stocked bar with shared lounge with variety of drinks , local ,cocktail, wines, spirits and international beers, you relax and sip the cocktail while overlooking the stunning view over The Nile, Murchison park , the Nile , wildlife vising the lodge especially ,antelopes ,Uganda kobs, zebras , buffaloes etc.
A blue water swimming pool that cools off the hot afternoon, you relax on the sun deck /balconies which provide scenic vintage point for viewing variety of wildlife drinking water in the river during the day and around the lodge, free parking space available, and Laundry services are offered.
WIFI available in all cottages that enables visitors to keep in touch with their families and friends, massage services are offered, airport pickups and drop offs, Excellent and comfortable beds with clean and washed beddings , Craft shop available at the lodge with more African style gifts like shoes, beads , guides book, clothes , safari essentials to mention but a few.
Murchison falls national park is the famous largest, oldest most visited park situated in the north eastern parts of Uganda in Amuru It was formally called Kabalega national park. The park stands on the shores of lake Albert home of scarce shoebills stork occupying the total area of 3,840Km squared .The park contains over 78 species of mammals including the Big five animals like; Rhinos, Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, antelopes, Impalas, zebras and over 450 bird species like ; water birds, savannah birds, Albertline endemic birds etc. The park has different accommodations like; Budget , mid range and luxury accommodation that are convenient and friendly to guests visiting the park. There are different activities to do while in the park include; Game drive ,you spot different mammal species since the park has more animals, Boat cruise/Launch cruise along the Nile that gives the exciting panoramic view of the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls and enables guests to spot different aquatic animals like Hippos ,Crocodiles at the river banks , water birds etc, Hiking on the top of the falls, Hot air ballooning in the park, chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest , Bird watching /Birding at the delta since the park has many bird species, Nature and forest walks in budongo forest , community visits to the local villages that encourages cultural experience mention but a few,.
