How to book Uganda chimpanzee trekking permits 2021-2022
Chimpanzee trekking permits in Uganda can either be booked directly through Uganda Wildlife Authority by contacting the head offices via email or telephone calls or you can book though a trusted tour operator like Achieve Global Safaris. Chimpanzee trekking experience in Uganda
Chimpanzee trekking in Uganda is done in two sessions that is the morning session which starts at 8:00am and the afternoon session which starts at around 2:00pm. All sessions start with a briefing about the rules and regulations at the park headquarters. After the briefing you will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about chimpanzees and trails in the forest. Trekking of chimpanzees takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species and once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their habits, behaviors, watch them feed, breastfeed, fight, hunt, play, rest, take photos and record the moments. Visitors can also engage in chimpanzee habituation experience which is carried out in Kibale national park and Budongo forest in Murchison falls national park. Chimpanzee habituation is the process where the wild chimpanzees are trained to get used to human presence for trekking and the experience allows visitors to spend four hours with the chimpanzees under habituation.
