3 Days Queen Elizabeth National Park safari is a short Uganda Safari tour that takes you to one of the biggest national parks in Uganda that harbors the famous Tree Climbing Lions. Queen Elizabeth national park is the second largest national park and is located in southern Uganda. On your 3 days safari in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will be able to view different wildlife species such as the climbing lions in Ishasha sector, the big 4 animals namely elephants, lions, leopards and the buffaloes, antelopes, waterbucks, bushbucks warthogs and various bird species such as the papyrus gonolek, white-backed night heron, yellow-throated cuckoo, red chested sunbird, white-winged warbler among others.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Transfer to Queen: Depending on your location in Kampala, our driver-guide will pick you up from the lodge or Entebbe airport, brief you about your 3 days safari to Queen Elizabeth national park and then start the journey which takes about 6 to 7 hours’ drive. On your way, you will have a stopover at the equator where you will be able to take some photos and view various souvenirs being sold, craft shops among other. From the equator, you will continue the journey via Masaka and have another stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre for en-route lunch as well as have great views of the sculptures of the animals and people, visit the museum, book shop among others. After lunch you will proceed with the journey and pass via Mbarara town, Bushenyi where you will view the tea plantations on the way as you continue to Fort Portal town and then Queen Elizabeth national park.
  • Game Drive: After arrival you will go for an evening game drive in the Ishasha sector southern part of the park where you will see the tree-climbing lions lying, relaxing and sleeping upon the fig tree branches staring down at their prey which are the Uganda kobs grazing in the open Ishasha plains. After the game drive, you will drive to the lodge check-in have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive (lion tracking) and afternoon Boat cruise

  • Lion Tracking Experience: On your second day, you will wake up, have breakfast and your driver-guide will pick you up from your lodge for the morning game drive in Kasenyi plains where you will also do lion tracking experience so that you can view the lions in the park. During the game drive you will also be able to see other animal species such as the leopards, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, bushbucks, warthogs, hyenas, bush pigs, and different bird species such as the papyrus gonolek, white-backed night heron, yellow-throated cuckoo, red chested sunbird, white-winged warbler among others.
  • Boat Cruise: After the game drive which takes about 4 to 5 hours, you will drive to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will meet up with your driver-guide and transfer for the afternoon boat cruise. The boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park is done on the Kazinga channel, a water body that joins Lake George and Lake Edward. During the boat cruise, you will be able to cruise near the animals such as the elephants, buffaloes, hippos, Nile crocodiles, waterbucks which will be viewed near the water banks and various water birds such as martial eagle, papyrus gonolek, pelicans, African skimmers, cormorants, African spoonbills, fish eagles, king fisher’s among others.
  • Lake Katwe Experience: After the boat cruise which takes about 2 to 3 hours, you will drive to Lake Katwe the salt lake which was formed through a volcanic eruption. At Lake Katwe you will be able to see the local people extracting rock salt from the main lake to the landing area for sell. You will also visit Lake Munyanyange which is 2kms away from Lake Katwe and you will see different bird species such as the flamingos, pied avocet, black winged stilt, black terns, seagulls among others. After visiting the crater lakes, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Departure to Kampala

  • Game Drive: You will wake up have a relaxed breakfast and meet up with your guide for a morning game drive in the park to view some animals which you will have missed the previous day. The game drive can take about 3 hours and then start your journey to Kampala City where you will pass via the tea plantations and have a stopover for lunch in Fort Portal. After lunch, you will proceed with the journey via Mubende and you will reach in Kampala early evening.  Your driver-guide will, therefore, drop you off at Entebbe airport in case you have a flight to catch or at any place of convenience.
