Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls national park

Transfer to Murchison Falls: Our driver-guide will pick you up depending on your location, give you a short briefing about your 5 days safari in Murchison falls national park and then you will start your journey to Murchison falls.
Rhino Trekking: The journeys take about 5 hours’ drive and on your way, you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking before you reach the park. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only destination in Uganda where rhinos are protected in a sanctuary and trekking takes about 1 to 2 hours.
Drive to the top of the falls: After rhino trekking, you will have another stopover in Masindi town for lunch and after lunch you will proceed to Murchison falls national park where you will have an evening drive on top of the falls and view various bird species and animal species such as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, bushbucks, waterbucks, warthogs among others. After the drive, you will check into the hotel and later have dinner and overnight.

Accommodation options include Paraa safari lodge for luxury, Pakuba safari lodge for midrange or Red chilli lodge for the budget.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Morning Game Drive: You will wake up very early have breakfast and your driver-guide will pick you up for the morning game drive which starts at around 6:30am or 7:00am so as to catch up with the early risers. During the game drive you will view various animal species such as buffaloes, warthogs, giraffes, elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks and bird species such as the Marabou stork, Spur-winged Lapwing, hornbills, bustard, secretary birds among others. The game drive takes about 4 to 5 hours’ drive and after the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
Boat Cruise: After lunch, you will go for the boat cruise which starts at 2pm. The boat cruise is an amazing and interesting activity where the boat will continue to the bottom of the falls and you will be able to cruise near the animals and have a clear view of animal species on the water banks such as elephants, buffaloes, hippos, Nile crocodiles, bushbucks among others.
Hike to the top of the falls: After the boat cruise, you can opt for hiking on top of the falls at an extra cost. Hiking to the top of falls is an interesting and adventurous activity for great hikers but needs you to be physically fit because it’s a steep hike. After hiking on top of the falls you will find your driver-guide waiting for you on top and will drive you to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Boat Cruise on Nile Delta

The Nile Delta Boat Cruise: You will wake up have your breakfast and meet up with your driver-guide who will transfer you to the starting point at Paraa for your boat cruise on Nile Delta. During the boat cruise on Nile Delta, you will have a clear view of big numbers of hippos and Nile crocodile plus the waterbird species such as the rare and elusive shoebill stork, fish eagles, saddles, malachite kingfisher, Goliath heron, African jacana, papyrus gonolek because it’s a great place for birding. The boat cruise on the Nile Delta takes about 3 to 4 hours and gives you great and fascinating experiences during your safari in Uganda.
Community Cultural Tours: After the Nile Delta boat cruise, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and refreshment. After lunch you will drive to the local communities where you will have an encounter with any of the Banyoro, Alur or Acholi cultures, visit different cultural groups such as Boomu women’s group which offer cultural visits about their tradition and cultures, cultural performances hence gaining a lot of experience about different cultures and dishes. After the community tour, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the same lodge used the previous nights. This is one of the best cultural tours in Uganda.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking

Transfer to Budongo Forest: You will wake up early, have breakfast at the lodge and with your packed lunch your driver-guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer to Budongo forest which takes about one hour’s drive. Budongo forest is a great place for chimpanzee trekking in Murchison Falls national park and you will start with a briefing and then will be grouped into different groups of 6 people and given a guide who will lead you and give you information about chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee trekking: Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest takes about 2 to 5 hours and you will spend one hour with the chimpanzee family once found. Chimpanzee trekking is one of the popular activities in Uganda and during chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest, you will see other primate species apart from the chimpanzees such as black and white monkeys, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons among others. After chimpanzee trekking, you will meet up with your guide and will drive back to your lodge for evening relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5: Departure to Kampala

Game Drive: You will wake up have a relaxed breakfast at the lodge and the driver will pick you up from the lodge for a short morning game drive in the park which will take about 3 hours.

Transfer to Kampala: After the game drive, you will leave the park and start your journey to Kampala with a stopover in Masindi town for lunch. After lunch you will continue the journey and reach Kampala early evening, the driver guide will drop you at Entebbe airport in case you have a flight to catch or at a place of convenience.
