Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Transfer to Queen: Depending on your location in Kampala, our driver-guide will pick you up from the lodge or Entebbe Airport; brief you about your 4 Days Queen Elizabeth Chimpanzee Trekking tour where after you will start the journey which takes about 6 to 7 hours’ drive. On your way, you will have a stopover at the equator where you will be able to take some photos, view various souvenirs, craft shops. You will then continue the journey via Masaka and have another stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre for en-route lunch. At Igongo Cultural Centre you will view sculptures of the animals, people, museum, book shop among others. After lunch you will proceed with the journey via Mbarara town, Bushenyi which and view the tea plantations on the way as you continue to Fort Portal town and then Queen Elizabeth national park. After arrival you will go for an evening game drive in Ishasha sector southern part of the park where you will see the tree-climbing lions lying, relaxing and sleeping up in the fig tree branches staring down at their prey which are the Uganda kobs that will be grazing in the open Ishasha plains. After the game drive, you will drive to the lodge check-in, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive (lion tracking) and afternoon Boat cruise

  • Game Drive (Lion Tracking): On your second day, you will wake up, have breakfast and your driver will pick you up from your lodge for the morning game drive in Kasenyi plains where you will also do lion tracking experience so that you can be able to view the lions in the park. During the game drive, you will also view other animal species such as the leopards, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, bushbucks, warthogs, hyenas, bush pigs, and different bird species.
  • Boat Cruise Experience: After the game drive which takes about 4 to 5 hours, you will drive to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will meet up with your driver-guide and transfer for the afternoon boat cruise. The boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park is done on the Kazinga channel which is a water body that joins Lake George and Lake Edward. During the boat cruise, you will be able to cruise near the animals such as the elephants, buffaloes, hippos, Nile crocodiles, waterbucks which will be viewed near the water banks and various water animals such as martial eagle, papyrus gonolek, pelicans, African skimmers, cormorants, African spoonbills, fish eagles, king fishers among others. The boat cruise on the Kazinga channel takes about 2 to 3 hours and after you will meet up with your driver-guide and go to the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge

  • Chimpanzee Trekking: You will wake up early have breakfast at the lodge and your driver will pick you up and drive to Kyambura Gorge which is located in the Eastern part of Queen Elizabeth national park. Kyambura Gorge is also known as the valley of apes in Queen Elizabeth national park and on arrival, you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking expectations and after start trekking in the jungle with the guide and armed ranger. Chimpanzee trekking takes about 2 to 3 hours and you will also view other primates such as Red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus, baboons, Vervet monkeys, and some bird species. After chimpanzee trekking activity your driver-guide will drive you back to the lodge to refreshen up and have lunch.
  • Lake Katwe: After lunch, you will drive to the crater lakes such as Lake Katwe salt lake which was formed through a volcanic eruption. At Lake Katwe, you will see the local people extracting rock salt from the main lake to the landing area for sell and also visit Lake Munyanyange which is 2kms away from Lake Katwe. At Lake Munyanyange you will see bird species such as the flamingos, pied avocet, black winged stilt, black terns, seagulls among others. After the crater lakes tour, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Departure to Kampala

  • Morning Game Drive: You will wake up have a relaxed breakfast and meet up with your guide for another morning game drive in the park where you will view some animals which you will have missed the previous day. The game drive will take about 3 hours and then start your journey to Kampala City.  You will pass via the tea plantations and also have lunch in Fort Portal before you continue the journey.
  • Return to Kampala: After lunch, you will proceed with the journey via Mubende and you will reach in Kampala early evening.  Your driver-guide will, therefore, drop you off at Entebbe airport in case you have a flight to catch or at any place of convenience.
