Engagi Lodge | Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Engagi Lodge is the mid-range accommodation found in the Buhoma sector outside the gates of Bwindi Impenetrable national park. The lodge is near the trekking point (park Headquarters) where gorilla trekking takes place. Bwindi Impenetrable national park is the home of more endangered mountain gorillas. The lodge is a convenient and affordable place for guests visiting the Northern sector of bwindi (,buhoma sector) since it is near the trekking point and its a great place for natural exploration. It takes approximately 7-8hr drive (540 KM) from Kampala City Via Masaka-Mbarara to Bwindi impenetrable national park and 2hrs flight from Entebbe international airport to kihihi / kisoro airstrip then 2hr drive from the airstrip to the lodge.
Bwindi forest Impenetrable national park is the most visited national park in the south western park of Uganda in Kanungu district. The park has more endangered mountain gorillas almost 19 gorilla groups in the park. The park occupies a total area of 330.8 square kilometers. There are more than 600 mountain gorillas in Bwindi national park of which 19 gorilla families are habituated. The park consists of different 5 sectors namely; Nkuringo sector, Rushaga Sector, Buhoma sector and Ruhija sectors where gorilla trekking takes place. The lodge is found in the Buhoma Sector which is the home of three gorilla families namely; Mabare, Habinyajna and Rushegura and Mabare family was the one to be habituated and it is the oldest family in the park With nine members. A gorilla permit in bwindi is at 600$ but it will be at 700$ in 2020 July. There are more than 786 mountain gorillas in the whole world. Uganda holds close to half of their total population, and the majority of them live in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, whereas the others are found in Mgahinga National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable national park has different accommodations in all sectors Budget, Mid-range, and luxury accommodation. The best place to visit Bwindi impenetrable national park is Feb, March , June, July, September, October and December. There are many activities to do while in the park include; Gorilla trekking experience, gorilla habituation experience, Batwa trail, cultural experience (traditional dances), bird watching, nature, and forest walk, community tours in bwindi forest and many other activities
Engagi lodge consists of 8 en suite beautiful cottages that are built African styles. They are well decorated and furnished, equipped with mosquito nets, satellites, driers, private en suite facilities like flushing toilets, hot and cold running showers. Rooms have terraces/ sitting areas with wooden balconies you relax while enjoying the fantastic view of the park from any angle and the canopy forest. Rooms have excellent and clean Comfortable beddings, The lodge has fireplaces that provide warmth to the guests during the night, Rooms varies in Different categories i.e. single, double, twin, triple and family cottages. Rooms cost 200$ and above per person per night and its always slightly high in peak season.
